is South Korea trying to take Philippines?

i saw so many Koreans in the Philippines...

the only Reason for Korean to go in the PHilippines is learning the "English Language"...

but how come Koreans are building buissness to the PHilippines?

there are so many korean restaurants, hotels, etc...

and as the foriegn rate in the PHilippines its about 500,000 Koreans are in there,,, and 100,000 who's living Philippines....

i dont get it... will they try to overtake the Philippines country? or just learning the english language?

hiya, I'm korean and I know that most koreans enjoy seeing different countries and have a natural curiosity for experiencing new countries and cultures, that could explain all the restaurants popping up. That and also the korean people like to give things back... we live your culture, and we will share ours with you kind of thing. Anyways most koreans I know think very highly of Philippines and I don't think they want to take over anything. It is because they want to learn the english language... see phonetically the Phillipines accent in the english language is probably alot easier for korean people to pronounce and gain confidence quicker. I know in korea they used to learn English with and American accent but now learning english in the Australian accent is common.... hope this clarifies some things, atleast from a cultural point of view.

No, I don't think so. They're going there to vacation, study, and work/live. It's a beautiful place, many people speak English there, and cost of living is cheap compared to some other places. What's wrong with that? Has some Koreans there been bothering you? Then deal with them in a civilized manner. You alone can't really do much about an influx of people coming into such a beautiful country. gluck

I notice a rise in Phillipine music. I think P-Pop will do just fine. I do not want to say one will take over the other. Asian music should all be embraced rather than compete against each other. What I can say is that due to The Phillipines being mixed with Spanish, they would have a better and easier time attracting non-Asian artists. It's racist, but that's how other countries are towards Asians.

No. but I heard many koreans saying they enjoyed their holiday/studying/place in the phillipines but some complain that they wished there were korean shops there. So I think they are just building places in Phllippines for money because they know it is going to be popular.

    Definitely no.

It's true that there are lots of Koreans here in Manila.

1 reason why they're coming here is to study. (I remember when i was in college, lots of Koreans were enrolled in my school.)

2nd reason is... I know that our DOT (dept. of tourism) promotes beautiful places here and encourage Koreans to travel and to visit our country. Good thing that lots of Koreans like our place so they come here.

i think these are some reasons why Koreans living in here put up a business (korean food and stuff) to fill-in their needs.

** haven't seen a korean hotels here... hmmmm????

It would seem that way everywhere, but no, probably not. Koreans are in huge numbers everywhere. I think there are more Koreans living overseas than in Korea itself!

I'm thinking the exact same thing...and to top it off if koreans are trying to learn the english lang. in the Phils. how come FIlipinos aren't allowed to work in Korea? Go figure!
