In college why does your GPA matter. I mean what if you pass with C's instead of A's?
Do employers look at your GPA?

No, employers do not usually look at your GPA. However, if you want to continue your education (masters, PhD, etc) you need a good GPA.
.....The way I look at it- you're doing something you love, right? You chose to take a specific program. Why not do the best as you can? Why would you want to get a mark just to 'pass'? It truly feels so good knowing how well you can do.
Nevertheless, you never know where life will take you, and one day- you may need that good GPA.

Why does it matter? Because an A suggests that you knew the material much better than did someone who got a C. For that reason, employers who are hiring you for specific knowledge, such as accounting, engineering, market research, etc., would look at your GPA and usually hire the candidate with the highest GPA. Companies which hire college graduates for general jobs, such as in sales, usually don't much care about your GPA.

Trust me, it's not as bad as you think. My freshman GPA was a 0.35, much lower than yours. I was the worst student that year. Sophomore year was not much better, but I had issues. Anyway, if you try harder this semester you definitely do still have a chance, and colleges don't take your high school freshman year as seriously as sophomore year and beyond. Just focus harder and study more. Also, try completing community service hours and participating in clubs at your school.

Assuming you mean for getting into college or graduate school, they need some way to get rid of oversupply of applicants since many more apply than they usually have places for. For getting into graduate school they also need to assure themselves you can handle it - that usually equates to at least a 3.0 GPA.
Employers sometimes look at a GPA. But the best applicant is usually clear from the application and interview without recourse to scholastic success. However if you did bad don't try to hide it - that will be one reason they check it for sure.
Thanks
Bill

It matters if you are planning to go on for more schooling. But no, employers don't ask for your GPA!

If you want to get into graduate, medical, vet, or law school, it matters. If you want to get a job directly related to your major, it matters. Say if you majored in engineering and wanted to get an engineering job - your future employers WILL ask for your GPA and will not be impressed with a C average.

It matters because you're paying for an education and quite frankly you are a fool not to take full advantage of that by earning a high grade.

I don't think so but I think they will know if you graduate with honors or not.
Plus, if you are gettin all C's, I really hope you aren't ever planning on trying to get into grad school.
