is it me or do republican arguments during campaign tend to be very child like?

this is a very serious question. Over and over again, I have observed, and while democrats tend to make arguments that have to do with reality and tend to give logical reasons for what they want to do...for example: "we need to get out of iraq, because the war has been going on too long, was based on fauly intel and should never have started, and has cost too much in terms of money and lives, and has empowered iran and destabilized rather than stabilized..etc..", republicans tend to say something like "if you elect democrats, there will be another big terrorist attack on the USA..so you should be very scared because democrats hate the USA and want another 9/11 to happen".

Another thing republicans tend to do is take every opportunity to paint their opponents in the most extreme light as possible to the point that it becomes cartoonish..such as when michelle obama was making a speech during the primaries, she was making a point how proud she was that americans were really excited

Update:

this elections because people were so involved and cared about the direction of the country.....she was saying she was proud of that. She was quoted as saying for the first time she is proud of this country...for that reason...for the increased civic involvement. But republicans of course only heard that she never was proud before, that she hates america. This is a huge stretch...but they do this kind of stuff.

There are tons of examples of these kind of tactics. So my question is this...why is it that republicans always steer the conversation away from the issues that matter in the lives of the american people and seem to rather have debates over issues of distraction or issues that have nothing to do with gas prices, creating jobs, health care, outsourcing of jobs, trade policy and all the other real important issues?

Update 2:

So obama saying he would be willing to talk to countries that are americans enemies to try to find common ground...is suddenly "he is an appeaser...and talking is a bad thing"

This is unbelievable.....as I said..very child like stuff.

Update 3:

republicans who wish to refute my assertion, please try to make as detailed a case as I did, to prove your point. A one sentencer after the lenght of my post won't cut it. Is it because you cannot really argue against what I am saying?

Update 4:

Once I listed like 15 things that are going wrong in the economy and said we were having a meltdown after years of GOP domination. Guess what a republican answered back to me? he said "what are you talking about? the stock market is doing great and unemployment is low".

Thats it. I wrote like 3 paragraphs detailing everything from foreclosure to immigration to health care to inflation to high school drop out rates to high healthcare cost.....and the republican ignored all that..and said I was crazy because stocks are high and unemployment is low....lol. This is another example of childisheness that I am talking about.

    you're absolutely right.

i don't know about republicans in the real world, but the ones on this site are borderline-retarded. the same stupid questions over and over. best is when they link to articles that undermine the point they're making! i've seen at least three of them ask a question about conservatives being happier than liberals and cite an article that they think illustrates this point. but the article really makes the subtle point that republicans are somewhat more prone to rationalizing selfish behavior than liberals are. none of them seem to be able to comprehend that aspect, though a number of conservative bloggers are really angry about this and have written at length about it. as for the obsessive anti-obama types, the less said about them the better. for "community guidelines" reasons.

Actually, nominal GDP progress is three.nine%. That approach GDP progress earlier than inflation. The Obama management claims inflation is a million% consistent with 12 months. a million. Do you feel feel inflation is a million% a 12 months? If so, i feel your really probably essentially the most conveniently....fooled...character on this planet. two. The economic system remains to be contracting. three. The percent of Americans running is falling every month four. Feburarys debt was once the maximum its been considering that the 2008 cave in. five. Inflation is extra alongside the traces of eight-10% 7. That approach -6% consistent with 12 months gdp. eight. On best of that, traditional family earnings is falling. nine. Need i am going on? 10. $a million.two Trillion greenback deficits eleven. $five a gallon fuel 12. If you feel fuel costs are prime now, simply wait...

Taking the 'Pollyanna' approach to finding solutions to today's world crisis is a mistake. As to the claims you make referring to Michele's statements being a misrepresentation of the intent, I am, as a conservative, am somewhat persuaded that you may have a point. I believe that there is much misinformation and interpretation on both parties. I long for the day that the American people will wake up and demand more from their candidates than rhetoric, trite statements and demand solutions to the issues that will affect us for generations to come. There are enough mistakes on both parties that have been made that if we simply 'point fingers' and taking the prideful stance that anyone party has the answers to these trying times is a little too arrogant for me. We as a people have lost our way , losing the sight of 'principles' that can carry us, in spite of the events and forces that come our way. Please, can reason and logic take a more prominent place in our discussion, when it comes to our country's future?

    Compared to what?

Compared to Obama's meaningless rhetoric, the GOP is launching McCain's Common Sense Revolution. It will be biggest single event since the American Revolution. It will be hailed around the country because it will save America from the Bush years. The Iraq War will end, the Afghanistan War will be won, Troops will come home, through McCain's ingenious economic system the economy will strengthen, the borders will be secure, the immigration crisis will be solved, there will be health care for every American, Social Security will be solvent for generations to come, the fiscal deficit will be erased, the national debt will be cut to one billion dollars, and the American dollar will be strengthened casing gas prices to drop to $1.20/ gallon.

When it comes to politics, things can get very petty...on both sides.

Often, when people don't want to research they throw out an insult - again, on both sides.

Make a reasoned assertion...okay. Here goes:

I would not vote for Obama because he has said he will raise taxes, because he would gut the military, because of his stance on partial birth abortion, because of his vote against evaluating government programs for effectiveness and because his voting record indicates he would be for open borders. I don't like his health care plan either. I would also like to see someone with more experience and maturity.

I will vote Ron Paul because he would work to cut government waste, bring our troops home and strengthen our national defense. He is an economic scholar with 30+ years of experience as a Statesman. He is a veteran and physician with a solid plan to resolve our health care issues. He would work to end subsidies for illegal immigration but would welcome legal immigrants who are good for America and are eager to learn English.

Retired, I'm not sure I agree with you on McCain. He has said he has a relatively poor understanding of the economy as evidenced by his statement that it would be great if we could get the interest rate to 0% (which means the dollar would have 0 value).

From what you are saying, it sounds like you're talking about Ron Paul. In fact, his book "The Revolution" just came out where he discusses some of these very issues like scaling back government and letting the free market do its thing.
