My first was breach when I reached the hospital in labor, but I walked and he turned.
I had a friend whose midwife and doc tried to turn her baby and it caused a lot of problems including an emergency c-section.
You can tell your doctor that you don't want to try and turn the baby. If you have to have a c-section closer to your due date or when you go into labor, you really haven't lost out. But I've also heard of them turning the baby and it turning right back a few days later.

i would first try going to a chiropractor (make sure they have done it before) they can adjust your back some way that often turns babies. also accupuncture can turn breech babies. there are a lot of ways that is supposed to turn them, definitely do some research. i have never heard of a 40% change of emergency c-section, just that it can be very painful. oh, i also heard from a midwife that if you put something cold (like a package of frozen food) where the baby's head is they will move away from it and often will turn.
good luck!!!

My son was also breech at 36 weeks. My OB did not recommend trying to turn him. She said that most often that is not effective and it is very painful for the mother. I opted for the c-section. Hope that helps.
