It took our dog a few months to learn it, and now she only potties in the house if we ignore her when she asks to go out OR if we leave her alone for too long (which usually never happens.)
Tips:
1) Put your pup on a feeding schedule. If you know when they eat or drink, you'll have an idea of when they'll need to go out. Feed at the same time each day!
2) Pup needs out: first thing in the morning, after eating/drinking, after playing, after naps, and right before bed.
3) Bring pup to the same spot each time! Remove anything that can be seen as a toy and try to find a spot where the pup won't see other dogs or people. Walk in that area, do not play. Potty should be straight out, potty, then back in. If you add playing they will think that they need to play and it will distract them.
4) Crate train your puppy. Dogs don't like to soil where they sleep, so if the crate is the right size they will try hard not to potty in it. Crate should be big enough to sit, lay down, turn around, and stand in.

Hi, I understand that you are looking for some advice or resources to help fully train your dog or fix behavior problems. If a professional dog trainer is not an option at this time, or if you want to trt training your dog on your own (a great way to bond), I'd suggest you https://bitly.im/aLVL5
A friend recommened it to me a few years ago, and I was amazed how quickly it worked, which is why I recommend it to others. The dog training academy also has as an excellent home training course.

I am in the process of housetraining my puppy right now. I take her out first thing in the morning. When she goes to the bathroom outside i give her treats and praise her. If im not around or can't pay attention to her i put her in her crate so she holds it. I take her out immediately after i take her out of her crate. When shes out and about my house or at work with me i just try to take her out every 30 mins. Bring her to the same spot every time and go the same way. Every time she goes potty outside, give her treats and a lot of praise, make a really big deal about it!! Only punish her for having an accident if you catch her in the act. If you do, just give her a stern no and clean it up. If you find an accident afterwards don't do anything but clean it up. The key thing is being persistant and patient. Its a long process but well worth it. Also you may want to teach her going potty as a command. When shes out tell her "Go Potty" or "Go" or whatever you want the command to go. Repeat it in a command tone of voice. When she goes say it while shes going to the bathroom and then praise her. Eventually she will understand that "Go Potty" means go to the bathroom. My puppy finally figured that out. Be sure to take her out first thing in the morning, after she east & drinks, after naps. Good luck!

The best way is repitition. I am going to assume you would like to train him to go outside. First thing in the morning when you wake up, is to take him outside. When you get him back in feed him and then take him out again in about 45 minutes to an hour. Make sure you put up his water and food dish, that way you can control and know how much he is eating and drinking. It makes it easier to predict when he has to go. Do this throughout the day and make sure you put down his dish only when it is time for him to eat. Make sure you let him out before bed. If you have a crate, use it. Put him in there overnight, and take him out in the morning right away. Dogs do not like to urinate where they sleep, use it if you have to go out for awhile as well. Make sure you always praise hime when he does good and remember, accidents will happen! Just get him on a really good schedule and in time, he will be just fine.

I just got throught house training my pug. I immediately figured out that she starts sniffing in circles if she is about to go potty so anytime that i would notice her doing this i would put her leash on and take her out to her designated spot and wait for her to do her thing. Sometimes it would take a really long time but eventually she would go. I always carried a treat with me so that i could give it to her the second she finshed going potty. And i praised her and scratched her belly. I also used a crate at night and during they day while i wasn't there.

overnight and when out literally cover your kitchen in newspapers. congratulate the dog when it wees on the paper, and tell it no if it wees elsewhere. NEVER shout at it unless you catch it in the act - he might look guilty but he doesn't know whyhe's being told off, or een worse he'll think he's being told of for going to the toilet full stop.
Gradually he will always go on the paper and start doing it in the same spot. Gradually decrease the amount of paper until he always goes on one piece. if it goes wrong, or you reduce too fast and he misses, start again with full coverage and take it slower next time.
Encourage your dog to go outside as often as possible and give lots and lots of praise and treats for anything done outside. he'll soon get the message.
Took me two weeks with a one year old stray puppy that had lived outside.

Well, this may sound odd, but you can liter box train a dog! Or there's these things called puppy pads, to were when the dog has to "go", theres a special scent on the pad that makes the dog wanna "go" on the pad. Good Luck to you!!!

Crate Training!
It will take as long as you make it, in other words if your persistant not long at all. You get out of it what you put into it.
Here is a great site for it:

Hi, Everytime your pup does its biz outside, praise, they love it. If your pup does it in the house say in a deep voice "naughty" and point to it. Then turn around and ignore him/her. Be hard when ignoring, it a killer i know but very effective. It took me 3 weeks
Good luck

I just took the dog out every morning until it went to the bathroom and then let it back in. If you can train it to sit that also can help comanding its attention. it took three days to do all of that.
