Anyone else feeling overwhelmed with moving to a town you don't know much about?
I am only moving to another town in the next month. The need to move was slightly sporadic, so there isn't much time to plan for it.. However, trying to get my daughter and son in a good school so late in the year, getting into the right neighborhood, and just focusing on getting all of this "stuff" we owned into another home is NERVE WRECKING! Does anyone have some simple advice I can take to make things easier?
I've tried doing online research, I have visited different schools, the whole nine. Yet I am nervous about doing something wrong, like I a missing something. Anyone experience this? I have moved before, but I never felt overhwhelmed about moving until now.

it just takes some patience and confidence. LOL
I know, easier said than done. but you will find if you make little lists for yourself, it'll be easier to organize your thoughts, which goes a long way to organizing your activities.
A list for household concerns ( where's the supermarket and the drugstore)
a list for packing ( sorting things into take, throw out and donate categories)
a list for family ( doctor's offices, baby-sitting services, as well as schools)
Pick a different list per day, and see what you can get accomplished. ( obviously, not everything) That way, you break the mountain back into pebbles, and can chip away at it all before you tear your hair out.
Yes, moving is overwhelming! Especially with little kids.
You can get them to start contributing to the packing aspect by having them sort out the clothes they don't need/want anymore, going through their crayon and paint collections to see what can be thrown out, and getting rid of junk. You husband can do the same, not only with his stuff, but in the garage as well. there's no use toting the" I was gonna fix that" pile to a new house, unless a piece is really worth it!
Start gathering cartons and cardboard boxes from the stores. It always takes a few more....
Step by step. And, if you do forget something, you're only a phone call away from your old neighborhood, right? You'll still be in the US, and still speaking English, so take them as the advantages they are....
