Christians: Does it bother you when you hear people casually talking about getting drunk, laughing about it?

I hear people at work telling stories about getting drunk over the weekend. They laugh about it. They think it's funny. And it just bothers me. I don't know if I am upset about their casual treatment of being in control of their faculties, or if my heart aches because drinking is a burden and a slavery for them and they don't realize it. I've never been drunk nor even taken a drink of alcohol and when I see people make so light of it, it makes me despise it and never want to take a drink. Does it bother you too?

Years ago I folded to peer pressure and did the childish behavior that you describe...It didn't last very long since I could not then or now comprehend how such irresponsible childish behavior was supposed to be "fun and normal"...

Over the years and different types of employment, I am having to do my job and their job because they were out getting plastered, etc. Have to cover for them while they go to court for DWI, drugs and other stupid behavior.

Because of this behavior everyone must now submit to a drug and alcohol test as part of a job application.

Drug and alcohol testing for an on the job injury claim...

Fetal alcohol syndrome babies, long term health problems, vehicular deaths...

This rationalization of a bad behavior by those who do such and then condemn those who do not indulge. These persons pat themselves on the back with a group feeling of superiority and justification...

    I'm an atheist, but I don't drink.

When I hear people talking about drinking, I get a little jealous that they don't have the stomach trouble I've got and can enjoy themselves in this way.

Lighten up, dude. Any adult who lives in a Western country and has never even TRIED alcohol has a problem with self-awareness, and probably fears about self-control as well.

Yeah, having never had a drink, you don't really know what you're talking about.

You're like the friends I had when I was 14 who thought that they'd have one beer and be telling embarrassing secrets and wearing underwear on their heads.

Alcoholics bother me. Kids drinking bother me. Drunk drivers bother me. Couple of drinks on the weekend? Not something that keeps me awake at night.

No I am not opposed to having a social drink with my friends and family. Christ drank wine, partaking is one thing but over indulging is another. I don't drink to get drunk, nor do I usually get drunk, I have been before, but I don't like that.

the type you communicate approximately your buddy makes it sound such as you at the instant are not her buddy in any respect. you may desire to end judging and start up truly chatting along with her. in the journey that your buddy has won 100lb in 2 years, she is putting her wellness in intense threat. i would not be passive-aggressive and get her a wellness center club, i might sit down along with her and have an extraordinarily intense communicate with regards to the type you are worried for her wellness. tell her which you truly p.c. to help, and which you 2 can pass to the wellness center jointly on a common time table. extra importantly, she needs to make certain a physician. My suggestion: end conversing approximately your buddy on the internet, and start up chatting along with her in an extraordinarily intense (yet comfortable) way.

When I was a believer, I used to think that they were stupid and lost and sad, mainly because I never took a drink myself and was wound up so tight that I couldn't tell that my empathy was actually derision and poor behavior.

Now that I am no longer a Christian, I understand the value of unwinding and letting things go, including normal social etiquette for a time, to let the stress of life dissolve with laughter.

Jesus (if he existed) turned water into wine, because his mother understood the same thing.

I'm not a Christian. Yet, it saddens me when people tell stories and basically brag about how they get drunk, smoke pot, do X, etc. Idk, I just find it childish and like they're trying really hard to fit in. I do not treat these people differently though.

You should drink a glass of wine a day. Makes you live longer supposedly. You should drink sometime, but not to get drunk.

There is absolutely no harm in occasionally getting a little tipsy, letting your guard down, losing control a little, relaxing, and having a good time as long as you're smart enough not to drive and you don't put yourself in a dangerous situation.

Humans needs to let loose a little sometimes. It helps relieve pressure and stress.

Overdrinking is a practice to avoid.

However, when someone has been informed, knows the dangers, but freely chooses to go ahead anyway .....that is their personal buisness. I go my way.
