Bicycle trailer?
I am looking into getting a bicycle. But I have had a long time problem with bikes in that they don't haul much gear, I like a lot of cargo room.
I recently saw one of those baby stroller/trailer/carriage device a man was pulling behind a bicycle and I think that is what I need. I looked online... these things are like 300-600 dollars! Isn't there one that is more like 60 or less? All they are is some fabric and some plastic/steel/aluminum right? Anything more than like 80 bucks seem totally unreasonable to me. Where can I g t one for a more reasonable price?
Do I need I certain type of bicycle to use one of these?
Also, do all bikes accept those baskets on the handle bars? I want one of those too.... I like cargo space... lots of cargo space.
Thanks.

You can watch for sales at Target and find a bicycle baby trailer for under $60. They're not the greatest but they do work!
Better though actually is a BOB Yak or Ibex --see this link: http://www.bobgear.com/trailers/index.php
They're more stable and better suited for cargo, lower center of gravity makes them easier to pull, and the single wheel tracks better with your bike.
But they're also around $300, so I personally prefer the TW trailer because it's very similar in design, and not only is it cheaper, it's foldable! In fact, it folds right up to slip inside the included cargo bag!
You see, while many Amtrak trains will permit you to bring your bike right on the train with you, they will not accomodate the BOB trailers because they don't fold and are too long. With the TW trailer, you can carry it on with you inside the cargo bag--to ride with you and your bike out to your final destination, and then bike tour your way back home, eliminating the need to "back track" or have someone come pick you up.
Here's a link to the TW trailer, which is apparently now $195, but if you keep checking on e-bay, you should be able to pick it up for $160 or less. They're really a lot better than using one intended for carrying babies. Here's a link: http://www.actionbent.com/twtrailer.html
I have a small handlebar bag that velcros right on and off and any handlebar will accomodate. As far as baskets go, though, well it depends on what is used to attach it to your bicycle.

Well, the price of a diamond seems totally unreasonable to me and all it does is sit around!
You get what you pay for. If you buy a $60 trailer expect to replace it frequently. If you buy a $600 trailer it will probably last you forever.
No, not every bike can be equipped with a front basket. It would help if you would provide the brand and model of your bike.

would this work?
http://www.nashbar.com/profile.cfm?category=600014...
it wouldn't carry kids but you should be able to pack a lot of gear in it. i have an old burley kids trailer i got at a rummage sale for $50 that is pretty nice. i also just got a trek gobug deluxe for the kids $500. look at craigslist.com for used stuff, search for burley or bike trailer. also target and nashbar carry lots of other kid trailers for 100-200 bucks. they are pricey, but can carry lots of gear. i agree those trailers are expensive. but the nicer ones are great for the kid's comfort.
you do not need a certain bike for most. they hook up to your bike with out any special tools or attachments. the trek gobug has an attachment that goes to a quickrelease so for the gobug you will need a quickrelease rear tire.
handlebar bags strap to your handlebars and you do not need any special racks or anything. but if you get a front rack you may need special holes that the rack attaches to. look for little holes in your fork that you can screw stuff into. if you have a front rack you can put a front bag (pannier) on your bike. also go to nashbar.com and look up rear racks and trunk bags and panniers. you can carry lots of smaller items in these bags. nashbar sells a cool basket that attaches to you handlebars with no special attachment.
anyway you had a lot of questions, i hope this helped answer a few. but all that gear is gonna be heavy!
good luck, be safe.

wal mart sell them for $50-$60 they will do the job but (note most cheap bike trailers can only hold 100 pounds of weigh before breaking)

Hey, so I don't know anything about trailers, but I do know you should get a good bike lock. Some great ones are at A&J's and their website is http://www.bike-locks.com/ .
