I am 65 and in the process of quitting. This is the third time I have tried to quit and this time I am being successful. The difference? This time I really want to quit. Nothing really stops the craving for a smoke...not patches, gum, pills, nothing. So to quit you have to realize there will always be a little man on your shoulder whispering in your ear; "Go ahead, one won't hurt you!" And you have to be able to ignore him. It is as simple as that and as difficult too. The urge to smoke will stay with you but you must resist it, the more you do, the easier it gets. It would help if your husband quit with you but everyone isn't ready to quit, you may not be ready yourself but you will not be able to avoid smokers even if your hubby agrees to refrain in your presence. You just have to really want to do it. The crying I can't make any suggestions about, it may be a form of depression and a doctor could help with that. I wish you the best of luck and if you don't make it this time, do not get too discouraged, the day will come when you can do it.
