Fiction is real life with all the boring parts taken out of it.

Fiction is a reality, only available to you. Defining fiction, as something that's outside reality is not correct, because fiction is been created constantly in reality, belongs to the realm of reality. The fact that people can't see your reality, nor you can see other people reality, does not mean that there problems, or triumphs are fiction. We all live in fiction, because dreams form part of an idea, which at the same time forms part of our ideal world. Some philosopher such as Aristoteles, damn fiction for harming the individual who lived on it. But fiction is more real that we would like to admit, because it keeps form doing good, and bad things a like, like god, and the future which is also fictional, it does not exist until it and goes in less than a split of a second. Sorry for the long answer, but fiction is not an easy term to define.

Fiction is something that is defined as being made up or false, but I dont believe it's 100% true. Here's why:

Fiction is interesting, because we can try and pretend that while writing it( I use writing and not reading it as an example), that is has nothing to do with our life, but it does. When fiction is written about, it's drawn from somewhere. It could be a story of a boy or girl who was attacked as a child or abused or a woman or a man who falls in love and has a borken heart, or goes through a major life challenge. Somewhere in our hearts we've either felt those feelings, experienced them in our lives or heard about people going through these, so therefore, fiction is an imaginary version of reality.

Philosophically speaking fiction I suppose could be very hard to define because no one person knows everything that has ever happened so how do they know it is really, fiction or made up? lol I just re stated your question but anyways to try and answer it, it is the opposite of non fiction. Yes, I know a brillant answer but really I'm as stumped as you are.

Fiction is like a ghost from another dimension or the piece of a broken dream that could be true if we only knew where and how the pieces fit together.
