if obama or hilary wins and stops war, will gas prices increase?
right now bush has oil.
later clinton/obama wont have oil.
therefore gas prices go up?
what i meant was, the pusrpose of this war was for bush to grab hold of oil b4 it was sold (if you believe in this). so far, his plan is working. once hes out of office abnd the war ends, we dont have that hold anymore
will it increase faster?

Oil is a non-renewable resource. It will eventaully run out. How soon is the real question! Price is a function of supply & demand in a market economy. Scarcity means the price will continue to rise no matter who is elected.

You'll need another Clinton I to freeze fuel prices and to patch up the mess made by the Bush II. Clinton was the only president aimed at economic success that the USA ever had!
To everyone: I can't believe how dumb you guys are! Sure for the long term, prices are going to hike up. For the past 8 years, its been Bush's bad economy management. Oil is still going to be available in the next few decades. Its not going to run out in my generation if I were an adult now!
Back to Bush's management. A few questions for you to digest.
1. Why have fuel prices literally risen a few hundred percent since Clinton left office?
2. How ironic is the US dollar falling 33% against the Canadian dollar at the same time? Its not like Canada's economy is strong internationally; in fact, it actually sucks if compared to Europe or some other highly decent economy.
3. Why hasn't the world consumption grown at roughly the same rate as the prices has been growing? Don't think about the supply/demand crap as in oil not out of the oil well yet. Think about why fuel prices are still hiking when many countries have announced doubling production over time. Remember, its what comes out of the ground that affects the market price if you play supply/demand crap which is close to meaningless now, since inflation is really what has been pushing the fuel prices up.

I don't know maybe. But even though Bush has oil,gas prices continue to increase. If we go back to how it was during the Clinton years, then maybe gas prices will decrease a little
But no matter what happens, the war in the Middle East will continue and all because of this disasterous administration.
Just shows what happens when a Republican is in the White House. Look at how much this war has affected everything else

Anyone who thinks oil prices will drop and wars will end and the economy will get better and jobs will be everywhere once we have a new president is completely wrong! Oil prices have been rising since Clinton was president, the war is much more complicated then most of us understand and a new president will have to make concessions to others. The economy is cyclical and goes up and down on its own. Will gas prices increase over the next few years? Yes, they will.

Well, a modern military uses a /lot/ of petroleum products, especially in an invasion, so I'm sure it was a major concern. Any profits reaped by oil companies from contracts in Iraq will be miniscule compared to the costs of the war. The real role oil plays is as a strategic resource. America has no choice but to maintain a strong military presence in the middle east, to gaurantee it's supply of oil. Because, without that supply, it's military might would be largely undercut. Prior to the second Iraq war, that presence included Saudi Arabia. It's been moved to Iraq.

Bush, Clinton, and Obama do not dictate oil prices. If congress implements this cap and trade garbage, you better believe gas prices will go even higher. If you want prices to go down, we need to drill for more oil. Supply and demand...... Economics 101.

Neither of them can or will stop the war and gas prices will go up no matter what.

>>To Douglas: Oil is a non-renewable resource. It will eventaully run out<<
This is not a known fact. It is just as likely that oil deposits are constantly forming and that oil is being produced from plant and animal decomposition even as we speak...
