Name one thing that the government hasn't screwed up?

This resulted from fellow citizens (you and I) all expecting the government to do more and more for us.

Instead of taking personal responsibilty and initiative to solve our own problems everybody is a victim and whines to the government to spoon feed them creating ever more programs.

Look at the politicians who don't bring pork back to their districts. More often than not, they don't get re-elected.

Whenever some brave politician speaks up for ending a giveaway program that has outlived its purpose, they get their head handed to them.

So a lot of good people don't run for office and we as a country get stuck with what's left over.

So many Americans seem to think that when they get money from the government that it is free...who do we think provides that money in the first place?

Steve Forbes had a good idea, for example, of abolishing the IRS by instituting the postcard flat tax. Unfortunately, Steve Forbes will never be president though because he happens to be ugly and women won't vote for anyone who is ugly. So, if anybody paid too much tax this year, hey blame the women:)

This is why we need to go back to our more conservative (conservative, i.e. small government, not Republican, don't confuse the two) roots. Less government is always better. The bureaucracy is too large to ever be able to run anything efficiently. The bigger the gov, the worse it gets. Look at the Soviet Union. The gov controlled everything and the entire country was a horrible mess.

I suppose it depends upon ones perspective. Illegals think our government has done a darn good job. Environmentalist think they're done a darn good job and our gas prices prove it. The list could go on and on, but you get the point. It's just those of us who have no agenda other than doing the best we can to have a life who are at odds with the government.

Well............this answer of mine is taking some time. I am searching and searching my mind for something........strange, isn't it? I wish I could take an hour or so to come up with something. This honestly makes me sick...........our nation is in a mess. I know the diagnosis.........our nation is working diligently to push the God of the Bible out ......... and that is the root of the whole situation. God will not stay where He is not wanted. Ever since the government has interfered in moving God out, things have gone downhill. That is the diagnosis. The prognosis looks awful. The remedy is for God to have mercy on us once again, and move by His Spirit to cause men and women to repent, and turn to Him. Then things would improve here. We are reaping what our nation has sown.......sad, isn't it?

ummm...well, unlike some other countries(that are constantly defended by liberals)we still let you criticise the government ,and as far as I know, don't cut out your tongue for doing it, or cut your hands off for stealing,and the list could go on and on.....I'll trade a few spotted owls and snail darters for that any day thank you! Remember we live in a country that "allows "us to be as stupid as we want to be....and that's the problem!..We're way ahead of schedule.

Yeah I agree with the guy above, we can certainly blow some people off the face of the planet. Right or wrong, we can certainly kill some folks.

Other then that, nope, I got nothing.

The public education system has given politicians millions of idiot voters. Not a screw up.

government has done a great job taking care of the benefits for congress. No one else gets these types for benefits but they take care of their own!

The war in Iraq 50 to 1 kill death ratio hell yeah!

If theres one thing our government is good at its blowing sh*t up.

Picking up their checks from the lobbyists and padding their bank acounts. Accepting trips, gifts and other earmarks; opening a large library then naming it after themselves.
