Can I make onion rings with red onions?

It is all I have. Will it work ok? Any wonderful recipes for crunchy onion rings?

    Oh, that sounds tasty to me. I prefer red onions, but they will be sweet, so you'll need a saltier batter.

    yes you can it will work but i recommend using white onions, they are better for the flavor to become distinctily better i am a student in cooking class at school, and i make up my own recipes which are very divine indeed

    It will 'work', but it will be stronger. To offset the strong onion flavor, I would go with a Tempura batter instead of the regular breading.

    They're excellent! I only use reds. I soak mine in buttermilk flavored with cumin, then dip in a Cajun seasoned flour, back in the buttermilk, back in the flour, then drop in the fryer. Yum!

    Sure it will work! I may try that myself, thanks for the idea! crunchy -- make sure the oil is hot and dry them on paper towels then they're almost as brown as you want them (they'll cook a bit after they're out!)
