Why can't non believers understand that this is not suppose to be a perfect world?

People who are non christian always ask me "If there is a God, then why does he allow such terrible things to happen to the world, children etc. I tell them that the pain and suffering we experience is all our own doing. God never meant for this to be a perfect world. I'd like to know what others feel?

That my friend is right well almost

you see everything is best in balance....

If there were no righteous folks where would we find

    any measure from...

we only know how bad something is

when we reflect on the huge distance

that, that bad is from the good we know...

Good is only good when aligned along side of bad

    everything everywhere is seeking balance.

So if you are righteous sort

Glorify the Boss & move on..

    that is your reasonable service...

You accountable to & for you

    NO ONE ELSE!.

if you are an unrighteous sort then get it together

We are all accountable for and to ourselves

all else is super-imposed by us or some outside hogwash.

our mission is to Glorify the King and move on

you see. . . I'll speak plain it's getting to be so much fun

It Don't make no difference what else is going on

the boss is the Boss PERIOD

see... Don't make no difference no how ... no difference

no way. the King deserves His Praise!

he's gonna get it... so you may as well offer it willingly

you already know this but I'm having a blast

    so glory on!

Assuming your god is both omnipotent and omniscient, then that god is logically responsible for all things, good and bad existing, even the human free will that you might blame for some of the world's inherent problems. Also, the bible makes very clear (especially the Old Testament) that human beings are puppet-like to God and subject to his whims, such a Job's trials. In the Old Testament God is shown as unspeakably cruel and is described specifically as "vengeful" and "wrathful." So you maybe can see where people would get that idea?

That's an argument you'll come up against a lot. I'm not saying whether I'm religious or not.

Because the common idea is that God is some benevolent being that is outside of us, watching the world like a movie, and has the power to step in and do this or do that to change everything. That is not who or what God is, we are the creators of this world and God lies within us as a higher consciousness that people have no idea how to tap into. Most people are led around by their ego, ego is the antithesis of our consciousness, and that is why the world sucks. I am awaking to my higher consciousness more and more everyday and the world I live in today is much happier and better than it has ever been before. As soon as we all awaken to our higher consciousness and stop letting our ego control our lives, their will be no more war, rape, abuse, etc....the bible calls it Free Will

Why do "christians" judge others, as this one knows they are directed not to do so by what they believe is revealed scripture?

Why do "believers" not understand that it is difficult to have faith in a supposed supreme being who is an inept as that of the revealed scriptures seems to be and then leave non-believers alone?

Why would someone post a post such as this one in "philosophy" rather than "religion and spirituality"? Doesn't he know the difference? If he can't discern the difference between these two sections why would anyone trust his judgment and discernment regarding a god?

Well first don't say non Christian's -it's people who don't believe in God, but i do understand where you are coming from. I'm atheist and i used to think the same way- it's just peoples luck. Their lives that way but i have one question for you when something good happens why do people always thank God? It's the people who make or decide their own choices not God. Think about it.

What gives you the notion that you can know what the world is "supposed" to be like?

Assuming for the sake of discussion God created us, he did so with the propensities which have led us to a world of massive pain, suffering and chaos.

Individuals may have free will, or at least appear to -- but mankind as a whole acts predicably -- and exactly as designed.

Most questions asked of believers from non-believers are not for the benefit of the non-believer.

I might ask a question that I know can not easily be answered the problem I find is that believers tend to think it does have an easy answer, but just because you do not have to think about the answer does not mean that the answer you give is easy.

God is simple idea only to simple people.

First off, according to Genesis, of course God meant for this to be a perfect world. "Eden." It's right there in the advertising.

Secondly, if God didn't mean for it to be a perfect world, what was the point in punishing Adam and Eve for following the plan and making sure that it wasn't perfect? (And for that matter, punishing the rest of us, who had no hand or choice in the matter, by denying us Eden as a starting point? Who punished children for their parent's failures? Klingons do that!)

Thirdly, your response to the Argument from Evil fails because not all "bad things" are human-caused. We didn't invent e.coli, pneumonia, cystic fibrosis, malaria, hurricanes, earthquakes, or ultraviolet radiation, among a host of others.

Now, if you can figure out good counter for those three points, you might be in business. Occam's razor suggests, however, that the simplest explanation - that God "as advertised" doesn't exist - is the most likely.

Well, I guess we just get frustrated when we do things like attend 9/11 memorial services at the family church, and listen to pastors say things like "This tragedy was God's will, and through God we can overcome the pain."

Christians selectively choose when God intervenes, we merely question why you believe in a God that would be so merciless to so many. We don't expect perfection, just consistency.

God gave us life and this earth. He gave us salvation through Jesus Christ. No matter how blessed or cursed one may be God's gift to us on earth is life itself. God's promise to us is salvation and forgiveness of sins - which we will enjoy in the next life. God gave us free will. Along with that law and guidance on how to behave, how to treat one another and how to cleanse our sin. But God did not provide for us a risk free, cocoon-wrapped, perfect and dull existence.

We can not have joy without sorrow. We can not have goodness without wickedness. We cannot have bounty without want. We can not have forgiveness without sin.

Sometimes you have to wonder about God's plan when there is so much suffering. Such suffering is not God's will precisely. You getting to work to relieve the suffering of others and act in ways to prevent or not cause others suffering is
