Save the HNIC theme song!!!?
This is our culture. Our tradition. Our identity. Our second national anthem. CBC can't just take that away.
The CBC was set up to protect and promote Canadian culture from American culture. They are doing the absolute opposite. They are destroying our traditions. This is an outragous crime.
The song doesn't belong to one old lady who wrote the song. it belongs to ALL Canadians.
This is a call for all true hockey fans out there to help preserve our tradition and culture.
There are numerous online petitions on this issue. Tell everyone about this crime by the CBC. Write to CBC, tell them it's wrong to take away OUR song.
Sweety Singh: Thanks for your fact. This proves that CBC can't just drop the song. Canadians won't allow them. I hope that they will get it eventually.

The CBC MUST KEEP THIS SONG! It is apart of Canada. Hockey is part of Canada. It should remain with Hockey Night In Canada. Some things cannot change this is one of them. I would like to see the fedral government say something of this song, or better yet declair it the 2nd national anthem. That song is so important to all Canadians. The CBC is nuts for changing it. I will not watch CBC again if they do not get back that song. $500 everytime its played is worth it, if it pleases millions and millons of hockey fans and Canadians.
btw for the guy that put up the link for the patition; thank you so much I was so glad to put my name down for this.

You would have a hard time finding a judge or court anywhere in the world who will tell you the song does NOT belong to the old lady. Copyright law will still give her ownership long after she's dead (unless she lives to 116).
By the way, the CBC uses taxpayers money, and as a Canadian taxpayer, I DO NOT want my money spent at teh rate of $500/show on a theme song when you get other songs for mere pennies.

Since I can't see Hockey Night in Canada, is there a link to hear the song, so I can form an opinion?
Let's go Rangers!

You are 100% right. I am pretty sure a deal will come through eventually, people will not just let the HNIC theme song be let go.
One forgotten fact:
The current theme was once dropped for the 1974/75 season. It was brought back the following season.

Yeah the world is never going to be the same. They took the crank off the front of my car, put an electric starter on my Harley and now this.
Why not wait and see what they give us in exchange. Might not be too bad.

Isn't it about time you get a music phone, then you can download the actual song from lime wire and transfer it to your phone, either with the usb cable, blue-tooth, or put it on your memory card with a card reader(can be a camera as well). Get with the times people.

No offense but this question is becoming a dead horse question, no matter what the cause (fight on).
