Will there ever be world peace?

Has there ever been world peace? Will there ever be world peace?

With everything that going on in the middle east, to all the crimes happening in countries.. when will there ever be peace in the world?

If for one day there would be world peace, I think it'd be brough on spritiually. Only someone as powerfull as God could make this happen, but do spiritual things exist?

if jesus can't save mankind, no one can.

as long as man is alive, there will always be war and hatred. There will never be true "peace" anywhere.

That's an enormously complicated question that really should be very simple, shouldn't it? WE all have the capacity to live in peace and achieve harmony but we don't, do we? I think it's all to do with that little bit of human psyche that stems from having a little 'animal' inside us all ... you know, that bit that seeks safety, the bit that may strike out if we are threatened, the bit that we need to survive. Take that away and we would all be very submissive. The problem comes when we need to control that side of us .... and sometimes an 'eye for an eye' is a much simpler option than basic negotiating skills. No, I don't think the world will ever change, for the above reasons. WE are simply not perfect enough. Great question!

    YES, THERE WILL BE.

This will happen once God's Kingdom takes it place and rule the entire earth.

In Awake magazine (1982 2/22) p. 9 **Is Man Incapable of Peace?**:

That world government of God will bring about some very necessary changes to accomplish peace. It will destroy all weapons.

(Isaiah 2:4) . . .And he will certainly render judgment among the nations and set matters straight respecting many peoples. And they will have to beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning shears. Nation will not lift up sword against nation, neither will they learn war anymore. . .

(Psalm 46:8-9) . . .Come, YOU people, behold the activities of Jehovah, How he has set astonishing events on the earth. He is making wars to cease to the extremity of the earth. The

bow he breaks apart and does cut the spear in pieces; The wagons he burns in the fire.

It will remove all national boundaries, making it possible for an even and reasonable distribution of the world’s population and its resources. It will make possible one universal language for all—a problem that has long been a contributing barrier to world peace. That government will bring about a climate wherein man can return to peace with his Creator and to perfection in mind and emotions, all of which are essential for a true, lasting peace.

(Revelation 21:3-4) . . .With that I heard a loud voice from the throne say: “Look! The tent of God is with mankind, and he will reside with them, and they will be his peoples. And God himself will be with them. And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.. . .

No probally not. Mainly because leaders do not learn from the mistakes we've made in history. They just keep repeating the mistakes: wars, too much amunition, ect.

Plus the countries all are selfish wanting the best for their countries even if it means harming another.

Maybe one day we will have world peace but I wouldn't count on it because it would only happen if every SINGLE country wanted it bad enough. So it's proboblly neer going to happen.

    Peace,

"Spiritual" (supernatural) things do not exist. Existence requires evidence. With that out of the way...

When people speak of peace they often refer to it as a matter of human nature, defining peace as the lack of violence that man could never aspire to. But man is not violent for violence's sake. He is interested (biased), and his interests lie, rightly so, with his own life, his survival, and the survival of the community that facilitates the preservation of his life. Among men, sometimes these interests clash, and very "human" values, which are exemplified in them, get violated. These moral infractions will always occur due to the random nature of biological communities, like human society. This is how life is.

But if that's life, what's peace? Something out of this world? Beyond life?

Well, there are other people that when speaking of peace, actually mean, not a lack of violence, but a lack of war. In this case, it is much simpler to understand how such a thing can be attained. Though you could define war as an extension of a natural proclivity of societal interests to clash, it wouldn't be a complete definition, as war needs the added feature of factions. That is, these are not natural, individual interests that clash, these are presumed "common" interests, that are at battle, in war. Whatever "common interest" is meant to imply, it could only mean an individual interest commonly adopted. Interests are the prerogative of beings, not of grouping of beings. Groups don't have a mind, with which to intend anything. Without this so called common interest, without a banner behind which to stand, no army can be erected, and no war can happen. The problem of attaining peace (according to this definition) cannot be resolved by blaming our nature, which is what it is, but by recognizing its origin in our societal structure, which groups our individual interests, in the name of a greater fiction; a greater something. This something, however, will always be nothing but a veiled conceit at power; and common interest, nothing but tool to either propagate the ruler's interests or to divide the ruled, into manageable camps.

If peace could be attained, it would be through the elimination of artificial groupings within society. A free man (an individual) doesn't fight for a foreign, artificial cause, he fights to preserve the value of his life. A world of free men, sounds very peaceful to me.

I don't know, I hope so, but it's impossible to happen, there is always a conflict and disagreements, even in the community's smallest unit (family), because people got different opinions on every statements and situation, haha even here in yahoo answers you can see it, people got different point of views even in the simplest topic.
