best disney world resort?
I'm going with 6 people, so I'm going to need 2 rooms (which i prefer; my son, daughter and her boyfriend want their own room). Anyway, I'm thinking about the Animal Kingdom lodge because of the safari theme and it's not that costly; the Contemporary resort because of the modern interior design; the Yacht club because of it's atmosphere and there's a lot of recreation there! The boardwalk resort is also nice and has a lot of recreation too. Which one do you guys perfer?
oh yeah, I might consider a suite for 6 instead of 2 rooms, and i am staying for about 10 days and will stay at the resort quite a bit.

Animal Kingdom Lodge - wins for atmosphere. Has some good eating & is certainly unique - especially if you can get a room facing the animal area. Downside - it's near to Animal Kingdom and that's it. After a while you may feel 'stranded' in the midst of nowhere.
Contemporary - in the heart of everything - on the monorail line - very 'hip'. Downside - construction going on right now makes the exterior not attractive at all. It's kind of cold looking - very busy in the morning and night thanks to Chef Mickey's going on and attracting lots of families. Not the best pool.
Yacht Club - beautiful! Great eating - both formal and casual. WONDERFUL pool & its own manmade beach. Easy to Epcot. (My preference of the ones you listed).
Boardwalk - I have not stayed here yet - it's on my list to try. It may be a great fit for you with teenagers (I'm guessing based on the daughter/boyfriend). It IS busy - I was warned that at night it can stay louder longer because of all the activity. Easy transportation - good eating. I think it feels the most lively of all the places you mentioned - only reason I wouldn't pick is because I haven't actually tried it.

I am a local and my personal favorites are the Beach Club and Wilderness Lodge. The Beach Club is connected to the Yacht Club and shares a pool but has a better feel, in my view. (The Yacht Club is very dark and not as nice.) The Beach and Yacht Club have the best pool of any Disney resorts! It is a sand-bottom pool with a lazy river, spinning whirlpool and long slide. It is located on the boardwalk which is very nice and puts it in walking distance of many restaurants, clubs and bars. The Wilderness Lodge is modeled after the Old Faithful Lodge in Yellowstone. It has the best restaurants of any Disney resort. It's pool is designed to look like a river it actually has a very rough current that flows through it along with a short kids slide but the pool is very small in comparison to the Beach Clubs pool. I would not recommend the Animal Kingdom lodge! I did not enjoy my experience there and it is under alot of construction for the next couple of months as they build vacation club villas. The animals are cool but no better than those you see at the The Animal Kingdom Park. I actually like going to the park more than staying at the hotel. The Boardwalk does not have easy access and you can use all of its recreational benefits from the Beach Club because they are both located on the Boardwalk.

If I were you, I would oust the Contemporary Resort, it isn't all it is cracked up to be, however, if you like Magic Kingdom, it is great. I have never personally stayed at the Animal Kingdom Lodge, but I have heard good things about it, plus there is a great restaurant in it, Jitco (or something to that nature). The Yacht club is very nice, and it is in a pretty good location, but it is definitely more for adults than kids (I don't know if any kids are going with you). All in all, the Boardwalk Inn wins in my opinion. Great location (on the boardwalk, and just a very short walk away from Epcot). If you decide to stay in a suite, you will end up paying more because you will need at least a 2-bedroom. However, if you want to be able to cook in your room, and you are going to be spending a lot of time in it, it is probably worth it.

All of those resorts are nice.
I've stayed at the Yacht Club - their pool is awesome and so is the Beaches N Cream soda shop! The rooms are very nice, but the resort is kind of formal. The restaurants are expensive, but very nice. It's within walking distance of the Swan & Dolphin Hotels and the Broadwalk Resort. You can even walk (or take the launch) to EPCOT.
The Contemporary is great too - - it's on the monorail (which runs thru the building, but it's very quiet and you don't hear it) system. It's not one of the themed resorts, but it is convenient to The Magic Kingdom.
The Animal Kingdom Lodge is great, but it's kind of far from the other parks and resorts - you'd spend a lot of time in transit. If you go there, be sure to sign up for the early morning, AKL-only safari.
Have fun!

I would stay at Port Orleans, Riverside! It's one of the moderate resort, so it's not too expensive and not too cheap/kiddie like.
It's beautiful, fun and relaxing! They have a bunch of pools to go to, a huge Dining hall where you can eat breakfast, lunch and dinner (many foods to choose from for each meal), a resturant, a gift shop and a bar!
My family and I have stayed at Port Orleans, Riverside and we have never been disappointed! We love staying there when we do go to Disney!

My last trip was at Saratoga Springs - which is the newest of the resorts, I think!
It has all of the perks that all of the resorts have, game room, pools bike rental and such.
This is my favorite so far - best little feature is that you can walk to Dowtown Disney.
