The correct form is 'etc'.
etc is used at the end of a list to indicate that you have mentioned only some of the items involved and have not given a full list.
Etc is a written abbreviation for 'et cetera.'

It is "etc." You see it as 'ect' for the same reason you see "does" misspelled as "dose" - idiots who cannot spell. I disagree that it is because some are either sloppy typists and are too lazy to spell it properly; it is because they are too stupid to know the correct spelling. Following are some examples of stupid from this web site: Stupid spelling of "dose" How much dose it cost too build a house per square foot? Dose anybody know the recipe for the tour of italy from olive garden? How dose using a graduated camera filter help? What dose bang bang mean when lady gaga sings it on Beautifulul dirty rich what dose it mean? Stupid spelling of "ect" How can a person tell what style there home is? Like colonial, mission, victorian ect ect...? What programs could i use to make sure my computer is secure from viruses, trojans ect? Can someone help with a recipe containing rice, cauliflower, ect? What kind of stone is best to grind grain(wheat, barley, ect)?

The way to abbreviate the word "etcetera" is etc. Adding the period at the end makes it an abbreviation so don't forget to add it =)
Hope this helps!
