Below is a translation from the wisdom ere of classical Sanskrit. Both sexes care to comment !?

Woman’s Heart

More hard the heart of woman is to seize

Than an unreal mirrored face, more hard

Her moods to follow than on mountains barred

With rocks that skirt a dreadful precipice

A dangerous luring pathway near the skies.

And transient is her frail exacting love

Like dew that on some lotus’ petal lies.

As with rich fatal shoots an upas-grove,

Woman with faults is born, with faults she grows.

Thorns are her nature, but her face the rose.

Update:

NO the poem is not mine. It is from a king-poet - Bhartrihari, may be a 1000years back.

The translation is by somebody very knowledgeable in Sanskrit. I know Sanskrit , and I can guarantee that the it is correct. In fact go the to the web :

sriaurobindoashram.com > Sri Aurobindo > His Works > English > Vol 8 > p. 205. you will find the poem. To me it was given by a lady professor in the English class, stating 'don't you think that it is so true of some of the modern girls who dress in a most vulgur way.' We boys of course were terribly gleeful in the class, and took the opportunity handsomely to tease all the girls . That is at least good 45 years back !

cynical and beautiful ... I can not comment on a translation of Sanskrit poetry. I do not know if it is an accurate depiction of the poets work and intention.

but as it is,, in English it is a huge generalization and typical of the way a man would feel if he was describing love after a a doomed love affair.

If it was offered as a poem and not a translation from another language I would say it was gothic and ghostly and lovely.

The unreliability of the ego is the same in both sexes. There is

nothing like holy ego present in the male. The poem reflects a

    male dominated imbalanced society.

....can't really say I agree. certaintly all women are not like this. I don't think sex has as much importance in determining who a person is as is commonly accepted. the soul is not flawed.

It's beautifully written, but I find it to be sexist in content.
