Regarding the Senate Intelligence Committee report...?

Now that the Senate Intelligence Committee has found that the Bush administration exaggerated claims of Iraqi WMDs, what now? It's great that they finally finished up the report that they started in 2005, then let sit for years while political games stalled it.

The Democrats aren't pushing for impeachment, because they certainly don't have the votes to bring it off, and it would admittedly be a waste of effort to try.

So what repercussions could there be at this point? Can any sort of censure or prosecution be brought after Bush and Cheney leave office in any case? Or are they simply home free once January 20th gets here?

I lost heart in Democrats on these issues when Congress became quiet after last December. Perhaps they decided to use these issues against Republicans come Fall, by making noise at a later date.

On the other hand, leaders cannot get lost in reactive justice. The wheels of justice turn slowly, and if you place all attention on it, you lose the more important issue of creating America's future.

I just perused it within the last hour. My first thoughts revolved around the colossal whitewash* of it all. I must go back and read it in detail sometime because the Republican rebuttals are so curiously defensive anyway.

    * How the heck did they conclude that statements the administration made about chemical and biological weapons were "substantiated by intelligence information" when the National Intelligence Estimate itself said, "We are not detecting portions of these weapons programs." Which portions were missing, again? The chemicals? The biological agents? Did anybody ask? Did it not matter or what? How does that substantiate ANYTHING???

Turn the information and them over to the United Nations for trial. This can be done even after Bush and Cheney leaves office. If Bush and Cheney and the NEOCONs had any pride at all they would have resigned in shame like Richard Nixon before he was to be trialed for treason.

You said Senate Intelligence Committee which is a oxymoron.

They will do nothing and Bush and Cheney will make money by writing books.

    Good question, Doc.

Hopefully Bush and Cheney (et al) will live the rest of their lives the same way OJ Simpson is.

That is in denial and shame.

Like the impeachment process, attempting to make these crooks pay for their crimes would just be too tough. Not to mention, it would be labeled as a "partisan attack" and thus, hurt the Dems chances for retaking the White House.
