Yes and no, when you try to activate the windows xp on your sisters computer it will not let you since it will say something like you cannot activate this key more than once in a certain timeframe. The cd will work on your sisters computer but like I said you can't activate it. If she has her own key, which she should and you can find it on the computer itself, just look for it. Most of the time its on the back, but look on top the side on the bottom and you should find it and use that key to activate windows.

you are able to no longer use any restoration disc, purely one that works with this Dell. you are able to probable order a restoration set from Dell. you like the kind variety on the front of the laptop and the serial variety on the back. this is probable an 1100 or B110. What the guy replaced into speaking approximately replaced into making a picture replica of the laptop because it replaced into at transport, beforehand you have a gamble to get infections or mess it up. there are a number of products that try this... he reported Ghost, i exploit Acronis. you like an exterior no longer easypersistent. This gets around the concern of no longer having a restoration set. Or evaluate doing the two. in case you employ a popular xp installation disc, this is going to paintings yet you will might desire to get each and every of the proper drivers from Dell. it would desire to be nicely worth downloading them now and burning a disc.

I guessing that you want to reinstall the OS on your sisters computer. Well, It should install fine but, the key is for one PC only and windows may not activate correctly.
I did this one time and I got windows to activate at first but a week later I saw that little balloon pop up telling me that windows needs to be activated in 30 days.
After 30 days, you won't be able to access your computer, It will only let you activate it.

It will work and work correctly if the two PC's are the same , i.e. hardware. It would work on two different Dells, but you will run into hardware issues with drivers and such. Make sure you downlaod any drivers that you might need and keep them handy on a CD rom or floppy if you have one.
