What exactly are the traits anti-Americanism?

It seems if you distrust the govt you're accused of anti-Americanism. Is this fair? I would think anti-Americanism would be hating freedom and liberty. But I would love to hear your polite thoughts.

Anti-Americanism used to be called Un-American. Both are supposed to make you feel you don't belong, you're not one of us, you're maybe not even totally human. They are used against people considered to be not supporting their own Government, on the theory that the Goverment is doing what is best, so people against this are against doing the best, so against themselves and their fellow Americans.

Don't feel alone in this, other countries use similar expressions.

It is meant to make you toe the line. In actual fact if you are thus accused you can be fairly sure there are things going they cannot explain or justify to you with facts and reason. Maybe going against them on the actual items is a mistake (but how are you to know if they're not telling you the details) but you'd certainly be justified going against them for hiding the facts from you, not trusting you, and treating you like an idiot.

I really doubt if any citizen from whatever country trust their

government. As for disliking Americans. That is taught to

children. Hating the US is a must in other country's.

If a American citizen hates it's own country they should be

shown how it is else wear. I have been all around the world, I

have as a soldier if they hated American people and the

answer is usually the same. Yes, when others are visiting and

then they talk about cool music and movies and video games

and all the food we have. And so it goes.

    it depends

if you hate what america stands for like the freedom of speech or freedom of expression. hating freedom and liberty is definitely anti americanism.

i've met a bunch of college kids who wear che guevara t-shirts and glorifying mao, stalin or castro. these people think that people were better off with those dictators and they claim that people are not free in america. they are definitely anti american.

we're supposed to be suspicious of the government. If we're not, they can get away with just about anything.

Anti-Americanism is hating that which makes up America, freedom, free market system, tolerance, etc.
