Follow-up on another question?

Some one asked about helmet laws in various states or if they were required. How many here wear a helmet whether or not it is required by law? Sex, age, ride, and the reason you do or don't.

I do!

Male, 54, Honda Shadow, I think it is only common sense to wear one. My wife and daughter are/were in the medical field plus we lost a friend to NOT wearing one.

Male, 50, Suzuki GSX1100G. ALWAYS wear a Helmet, when people ask Why or say Ain't that Hot? I tell them that My head has met the pavement Twice with a Helmet on, I don't advise it without one.

Male, 31, CBR1000rr. I live in WI, where we are not required by law to where a helmet but I choose to in order to limit my risks of injury. My little brother is in need of a liver and I often joke around that a rider behaving foolishly without a lid is "possible donor", not that I am wishing them any harm just that the organ wait lists are shorter in states without helmet laws. That fact alone is enough for me to wear mine 99.9% of the time I ride. I also have an f4i that I use to race at a local strip where they require us to wear helmets.

Male, 70, 08 FLHX, I don't wear one because I don't like them, besides nobody has shown me where they do any good over about 30mph. Let those who ride decide. Based on number of fatalites per 1K accidents, the first 6 safest states do not have a helmet law. When they got rid of the helmet law in Pa. fatalites went down.

Male,46,1990 XT600E. I always have and always will wear a full face helmet. I have headbutted the rear of a car at 10mph/16kph and face planted on the track at 80mph/120kph and still have my skull and face intact. If I hadn't been wearing a good helmet on either of these occasions, my children would probably be fatherless

I've never been without one. I won't ride without one. Some of my riding buddies do go without, and that's their choice.

In 1995, I lost my dad to a careless driver backing out into a street. Dad had on his helmet, it didn't save him, but I still know the benefits.

WHen your run down by a truck, it dont matter is you have armor on. Your dead.

Everyone with less than 5 years on the road should wear a bucket.

If they make it to 5 years, they will still wear thier bucket.

For they will be older and wiser
