Help...Computer Problem... Please Help!!!?

I have Windows XP. Recently, my Task Manager isn't showing up... it means, it is NOT DISABLED, but when i try to open it, it just shows up for a second and closes in a flash!!!..

And it is not just the task manager... i tried to open REGEDIT.EXE and GPEDIT.MSC through 'Run'... but they too just show up for a second and close....

I suspect some malicious activity on the system... i have scaneed system through AVIRA ANTIVIR ANTIVIRUS and Ad-Aware Spyware.....

Also, i use SPYBOT-SEARCH & DESTROY, and everyday it finds and corrects problems with task manager... But the problem persists....

I also suspect 'spoolsv.exe' backdoor infection... coz printer SOMETIMES prints slowly...

What can i do? Which tool can i use so as to restore my system to a healthy state??

Run those scans in safe mode. If the problem persists it sounds as if your only other alternative would be to format and reinstall. Most times viruses like that will rewrite your registry so unless you have a backup of your registry not much you can do.

1.Start the computer in safe mode. Bye pressing the F8 key during the boot up. Then scan your computer. You should be able to access REGEDIT.exe from safe mode as well. If you are unable to fix the issues using this method then try the following:

    2. Use your restore disks to replace the system files. You can do this bye booting up with the restore disks and useing the Windows recovery tools. This will not erase your OS but only replace the system files. That could possibly be currupt .

    3. Use the system restore partition to restore your computer to a take when you didin't have this issue. You can do this buy going to the start menu + Programs + Accessories + System Tools + System Restore

    4. Try going to the www.microsoft.com and try to download the updates. See if that will find the issue and or replace currupt files.

    Hope this helps

If persistent spyware is bogging down your computer, and it sounds like it is, then you might need HijackThis. It's FREE! -link below-

HijackThis lists the contents of key areas of the Registry and hard drive--areas that are used by both legitimate programmers and hijackers. The program is continually updated to detect and remove new hijacks. It does not target specific programs and URLs, only the methods used by hijackers to force you onto their sites.
