What is your favorite piece of fitness mis-information?

Among my favorites are detox-diet scams and spot-fat-reduction. What information is out there that makes you chuckle every time you see it because it is so utterly ludicrous?

    All the ab equipment that they say will give you six pack abs. I absolutely love the fact that they skip over the two essentials to a perfect stomach, cardio and a healthy balanced diet.

    Basically in general any fitness "expert" that doesn't teach how its diet, resistance training, and cardio that builds a perfectly healthy body.

    Oh, Oh I forgot to mention diet pills. I don't even know where to begin with that one!

    Interesting Question. So many things just plain annoy me about misconceptions and misinformation when is comes to diet and fitness. SO many things are ludicrous like people thinking that starving yourself works, these diet pills, basically all the diets out there, spot reduction weight lose...

    So many people don't want to work hard to lose weight they think a pill or starving yourself will get you the perfect physique.

    Also all these stupid studies and surveys all over. I remember that had a 'breakthrough research' on the front page of yahoo about how diet soda can actually lead to weight gain and it's not that good for you(go figure).

    The stupids questions asked in this section repeatedly....

    That diets work.

    They may work in the short term, but eventually you stop eating the cabbage soup (or whatever) and the weight comes backwhen they go back to their regular eating without adding an exercise component to their lives.

    Magic pills that make you lose weight without any work.

    Some herbal wrap that helps you lose inches in 2 hours.

    In the mall, if someone gives me some ad about losing weight, I look at them expressionless and say "What are you trying to say?"

    Then I walk off when they get all tongue tied and laugh at them.

    That cutting out fat will make you skinny. Really, it's a healthy mix of carbs, fats, and protein that makes a good diet for training.

    spot reduction, detox (same as you) cellulite creams, magic diet pills (you don't even need to exercise ones) oh and the big one on here, how many crunches do I need to do to get abs? don't they know you have to be low body fat to see great muscle tone?

    I hate when any advertisements is on and talk about any quick weight loss product because weight loss does not happen fast, I also hate that most time they are directed to us chicks because we don't need to be twigs. I like my muscular body and all the ads and commercials can shove it up their butts because I am not changing!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    I HATE the spot fat reduction one. The muscle turning to fat one and weight lifting stunting growth gets me too.

    Personal trainers who try and get female clients by telling them they know to train them without making them look "bulky". Also strength and conditiong "experts" who keep pushing functional strength. Playing your sport, makes your strength "functional".
