Allergic to fake silver...?
I'm allergic to fake silver, but my favorite necklace happens to be fake silver. What can I do in order to stop myself from getting painfully itchy breakouts when I wear the necklace ? My mother said to paint the necklace with clear nailpolish but that didn't work too well. I'm thinking that soaking it in alcohol might have an effect. Any ideas ?

If you are breaking out it is because you most likely have a nickel allergy, which really suck. Soaking your necklace in alcohol won't help it, because the allergen is right in the metal.
If you are having such bad break outs you might end up not being able to wear your necklace anymore. I had to give up a favorite of mine due to getting blistering rashes from it, so now I have to wear sterling silver, titanium, or gold of 14 karats or higher.

Sounds like nickel. Nickel free, hypoallergenic items are best bets. Clear nail polish has worked fine for me but I don't usually wear the cheaper jewelry so much that it wears off. Alcohol won't help.
If it's got a chain that can be changed, get a sterling silver chain.
