I do know the Tesco's bakery at the big store in Lee Valley (by Edmonton's Ikea) have a service that can produce a cake in short time and prints a picture for the top on to an edible surface with edible inks. I'm not sure if you can use custom pictures but it's worth a go as I know you can put a personal photographs into the service.
