Let's say Guns N' Roses release 'Chinese Democracy' next week. Will anyone even care?
At one time, GNR were, almost inarguably, the biggest rock band in the world.
Between the hype for an album more than a decade in the making, and a series of lineup changes that would make Spinal Tap laugh, and the natural evolution of popular rock sounds, has GNR missed their window of success completely?

yeah, more people will buy it than they are letting on because they (me for one) will wanna know what all the hype is about.I'm old enough to have seen them play way back in '93 back before the split, and i don't think there's no way Axl can compete with the old stuff with new players.

I would listen to it just out of sheer curosity. I WAS a big GNR fan back when they were in their hayday...but now I think that Axl is pretty much a joke and don't really have much anticipation or expectations for the new album. BUT I will listen to it, not gonna rush out and buy it on the release date or anything...

Chinese Democracy at this point would be one of those albums that should never see the light of day.
To me Gn'R's current lineup (whatever combination it may be in now I lost track a few years ago) isn't Gn'R but Axl's solo project. So unless Axl can get his ego out of his as* and get together again with Slash, Duff & Matt I wouldn't care less about any upcoming solo projects from Axl

Lol. Fascinating question. I loved the way you worded it. The CD will be awful. I have never liked GNR, but I do understand that they used to be on top of the world. They're washed up now though, so who cares what they do? I'm sure the hardcore fans will buy it, but that's it.

It will never come out, but if it did it would sell for the first week and then it would just get downloaded by everyone else after that. The first week an album comes out is always the best selling week for bands.

Im ready to hear it. I think it will be big the day it comes out and thats it. I think that they definately missed the window for success.

I'm to the point that I just don't care anymore. I've wasted too much excitement on that album coming out to do it anymore.
