Just chuck a cat in ya garage for a couple of days and the mice will suffer.....
or - the prefered but not as effective option....
get some humane traps and catch the mice and then let them go but if you do that make sure you take them far away from your house otherwise they will find their way back.

You can buy electronic devices which are harmless to us but disturb the mice and will eventually drive them out. We had an infestation and I tried trapping for about six weeks with dozens of traps with little result. They breed really rapidly and I would recommend that you get a device A.S.A.P.
The site below has one for £14.99 which was less than I paid last year

Order one now or you will live to regret it like I did.
Best of luck with the little blighters.

The council/EH will charge for this.
Try Bitrex poison seeds from any garden centre or pet shop. Its humane and they will go back to the nest and die.
