It's Draft Day!!!?

Some draft day questions to pass the time...

1.) Are you watching the draft? Following it online? Checking Later? Or missing it entirely?

2.) How much effect do you think a teams draft has on the players outlook for the upcoming season? The fans?

3.) I brought the beer and snacks last year! It's your turn... What are we having?

4.) Deep down somewhere (for those of you with full time jobs) does it bother you that a crop of 18 years olds will become (almost certainly) millionares today? I know I would play for a Gatorade!

5.) You've made friends with some of the players on your favorite team. They tell you that the new first round picks coming in to meet everyone today and they want to play a prank on him, they ask your advice... What's the prank?

6.) Your out at the bar or a bar/grill with your parent(s) (I like to include everyone) last night, and you see the guy your team is thinking about taking with the top pick (18) getting HAMMERED at the bar, what do you do?

Update:

**Kate- I always hated camping too, hopefully you've got a good hockey fan friend that can keep you posted lol.

Update 2:

Joe- Ask not what your team can do for your draftpick, ask what your draftpick can do for your team

Update 3:

JO- Versus and TSN starting at 7:00pm

    1) I guess I am going to watch it tonight. I have a pretty nasty hangover today…and I blame our friend Freckles…all that talk of Sangria…I decided to make some last night…and it was like heavenly fruit punch on the lips. I don’t think I am going to come online tonight. I am having a hard enough time trying to make it through my workday. I went to Wendy’s on my lunch break because figured a good greasy burger would fix me up. Anyway, I got a burger, and it was freaking disgusting. I was quickly reminded of why I never eat fast food. Now, not only am I feeling my head pound, but I am also feeling a tummy ache on the horizon.

    2) I think the draft helps fans and players alike look forward to the upcoming season. Do I think Stamkos is going to turn the Lightning around? No…..but is fun to live in a town that is giving him so much hype.

    3) I guess I will bring some leftover Sangria. I made 2 gallons last night. I guess my eyes were bigger than my tolerance. Since I am feeling like crap, I am going to swing but a convenience store on the way there and get some tortilla chips and salsa…..and if you don’t like it tough nookies.

    4) Spoiled Brats. Back in my day, I had to walk 10 miles to school…even during whiteouts…and I would work at Ol’ Man Hickley’s farm for 15 hours straight…just to make a nickel. Then, I would go down to Woolworth’s, and buy myself a Sassafras, and still have 3 pennies left over to my mother a loaf of bread………….Man I need an Advil or something.

    5) With the Seen Stamkos campaign, I would just tell everyone to act like they don’t know who he is…like when he comes in the room, ask him to get you a drink (like he is the waiter), or Say things like, “ You must be Dan Boyle’s little brother….oh, your name is Steve Stamkos? Hmmm, never heard of you.”, or tell him that the restroom is out of toilet paper, like he is the janitor. …………………..Quit rolling your eyes! I’m struggling here.

    6) I ditch my parents…lmao. Seriously. My parents know how much I love hockey, and they would ditch me if Paul Hornung were getting slammed at the bar.

  • 1) I will be watching it

2)It has a good deal of effect for both players and fans. I think fans more so. The players are used to having to play with new teammates

3)WE have beer here, wine, soda, water ,liquor and as for food I could whip up a great lasagna and garlic bread no problem

4)I know . being a female hockey player and seeing young guys get all of that , while all I have is an amateur travel and house league to play in. is kind of bumming .

5)Clear tape on the hockey blades. Will wonder why they can't stand up on the ice

6)Nothing. Let him deal with all that noise and applause and such with a huge hang over the next day. That would be punishment enough

    1) Not watching it this year. The wife and I are going to a minor league baseball game in Kinston NC.

    2) I think is has more effect on the fans. The players pretty much know that the average rookie isn't going to impact the team that much, unless he is a super rookie i.e. Crosby/Ovechkin.

    3) Bells Two Hearted Ale(IPA) and Sunchips

    4) Yeah, but then again, if I could I would trade places with them.

    5) Not much of a prankster myself. I'd have to consult some help.

    6) I gain respect for the man/kid.

***Joe: Yeah it is the Kinston Indians, their slogan is "We've got the bases covered when it comes to having fun." I am stoked with that alone, yawn.

    1)Checking it later.

2)It depends if some teams make blockbuster deals.I'm looking for Holmgren to try and acquire Campbell tonight.

    3)Yuengling,Soft pretzels and Tastykakes.

4)Deep down?No but it did bother me when I was 18 and saw players get passed over me for the baseball draft that had no right being selected.Locally I mean.

5)Vaseline in the hand joke gets everybody from any part of the world. It would take me too long to explain anything really elaborate now.

6)Maybe a little black mail is in order.Hey van Riemsdyk how aboot some season tix Bud?

Source(s): What's funny was when I read your headline I thought man they really need help in Iraq. Andrew-Nice...Kinston Indians?

1.) I will try my best busy day and I forgot to set the TiVo again.

2).Not to much the upcoming season but more so the future since most pick don't come right into the league.

3).Goose Juice and adult brownies...as always.

4).nah good for them congrats they made it further then I was able too. And I look forward to watching them.

5).have him suit up early and hit the ice for a one on one with the strength coach, when he hits the ice it should be during public skating. If all else falls the sports cream in the jock strap is always a show stopper.

6).Send him a beer then go up to him have a shot with him and introduce myself.

Source(s): By the way what channel is the draft on and at what time., thanks Ice
  • 1. check when I can online...working..woohoo : (

    2. I think it pumps the fans up when a team snags a great pick..I really can't speak for the players.

    3. Wings, Pizza and Coors Light....and we'll jello shots after each pick!!

    4. Yes...it pisses me off...but hockey is the roughest sport...the one that really makes me mad is the professional bowlers...Like they deserve millions!! bah!

    5. I'm not very good a pulling pranks...but I'd offer to help in anyway I can..even if it meant being "naughty"...lol

    6. Go up and talk to him..take pictures..and get his phone number! Then offer to be his DD so doesn't drink and drive.

  • 1) I'll have it on a work, since we have extended basic cable there.

2)It can give hope, but with the Islanders you never know. I still think they trade the pick to Dallas for Brad Richards, lol.

    3) I'll send many Heineken Draught Kegs with robotic sexy beertender included, as always. Chips with my special Onion Ranch dip and a veggie platter, for those who snack healthy.

4)No, I had the opportunity in baseball years ago but my knee got messed up, so I won't begrudge a kid making some cash.

5)Itching powder in the jock strap is an oldie but goodie. Or hire a tranny to have sex with him, and put the video on YouTube.

6)Since he's too young to drink, blackmail works best here.

    1. Probably checking later. Cliff has my cell number if he needs me.

    2. Players probably very little since no one being drafted today will start any higher than third line. Fans strike up the band. The wagons are leaving the gate.

    3. Humble pie and crow.

    4. Welcome to the club.

    5. Tell them that the coach is gay and he wants you to give him a kiss on Television.

    6. see 4 above.

    3.) Nachos. :-)

4.) I'm almost 18, and its crazy how guys my age are getting signed to contracts worth hundreds of thousands of dollars.

5.) I don't know about prank, but they should scare the crap out of them. Someone should hide and jump out and scare them! Haha that would be funny.

6.) Take LOADS of pictures :-D Then tell him he better not be a damn drunk when he plays for the Devils.
