Charlton Heston , did you like his movies ? What was your fav. and why?

I guess i somehow miss the qualities he often brought , my favorite was Ben Hur , i liked how it was portrayed as happening during Jesus time ... I liked the way he did Biblical character's but i try not to think that he made a mistake when it came to owning a gun .... and yes this is my first question ever...lol

Update:

Everyone's getting a thumbs up from me , They were all great movies and did you know that Soylent Green was Edward G Robinson's last movie before he died , another great actor...

I didn't mean to make the gun thing an issue , I think he just liked them......

Update 2:

It will be hard to choose a best answer , everyone has been so positive i wish i could give it to everyone ... Thanks everyone for your answers , i think in a lot of ways he'll be missed and in case you missed it i think his last cameo was in the latest version of planet of the apes , why it was uncredited is unknown

    OMEGA MAN!

That was awesome! Just loved it, it was scary for the time and now it's delightfully cheesy, yet you still are glued to your seat!

My mom was HUGE into The Ten Commandments and when I was like 8, she once sat me down with popcorn and juice to watch the entire movie from start to finish.

You'd think that an eight year old would be gouging out his eyes after the first 30 minutes, but I was amazed. Something about Charlton Heston's performance in that movie just made it a classic.

Sure, I've seen others since, but The Ten Commandments was my first Heston movie and, even today, it's still the greatest one he's ever done. His battle of words with Yul Brenner had an air of tension about it that you could practically cut into with a knife.

    Great performances.

    Omega Man.

That was pretty daring of Heston to have an inter-racial relationship during those times. This was before he went off the neocon-deep-end.

I remember an early film of his where he was living in South America, having to fight off an invasion of Army Ants. Really fun thriller.

Rana, if your kid had been gunned down in school on Tuesday, would you appreciate Heston holding a gun rally near your home on Wedneday? Once he was mentally ill, he forgot his grace, dignity and knowing how to pick his spots.

The NRA would have smelled of roses had they lain low, issued a statement of sympathy, and rescheduled the event. But no, not with Heston and his Alzheimer's, Ted Nugent's psychopathy and Wayne LaPierre practically crowing for joy over the deaths at Colombine.

Guns don't kill people, the big guy from Happy Gilmore kills people. I could kill you with a stick if I wanted to. It's just a tool. Anyway. . . I like Touch of Evil the most. Although Ben-Hur is great, I liked it when he worked with the movie master, Orson Welles.

EDIT To I ASK, I ANSWER above, If you don't know who Charlton Heston is, you've obviously never watched movies before.

answer: I like several: Planet of the Apes, Three Angry People, Omega Man, Soylent Green. I thought he was a decent actor that found a niche. I did think he wasn't very good in The Buccaneer and a few others.

I agree with his gun ownership stance, not his politics or heavy hand in religion.

I personally liked Soylent Green a lot, but there are a lot of Charlton Heston movies I haven't seen.

The Ten Commandments was AWESOME! I saw it at the drivein with my family when I was about 9. My friends and I spent a long time after that reenacting parts of it. I really liked all his movies. And I'm afraid I'm one of those "gun nuts" who believe we should be allowed to have guns. Good question! God bless.

I like the Ten Commandments just as much if not more! You have a problem with a man owning a sling shot? What would David use to kill the giant? Is not the force with you? No faith? Work on that!

I only like Planet of the Apes "get your stinkin paws of me, you damn dirty ape". I thought the Omega man was utter crap, apart from that i haven't seen anything else with him in it as a major part.

At that gun convention when he said "they're gonna have to pry it from my cold dead hands" well sorry Charlton, i think they've done it now. LOL. Sorry to mock a dead man, but it is funny if you think about it.
