Which word is used more in the New Testament?

In the Greek original, "the" followed by "and" there is no word in Greek for "a".

The particular "History Channel 'Factoid'" you cite occurs about 47 minutes into the episode, "Prophecies from Below' from the series, 'Cities of the Underworld." Dated 2008, the factoid is still being broadcast in December 2013. The exact quote is:

"'Amen' appears 773,692 times in the King James Bible."

This is one of the most absurd things I have ever seen on the History Channel but, I suppose, not surprising from an "educational" operation that views "history" as two jokers digging around old barns for rusty bikes and oil cans or endless speculation from the Tesla-hair Boy that space aliens were behind every human endeavor.

The total text consumed by the word "amen" repeated 773,692 times would represent well over half of the entire Bible's text. Clearly, the author of this little gem has probably never actually opened the book, much less read it.

While I personally have never counted the occurrences of the word, there is a good resource at: http://www.kingjamesbibleonline.org/Popular-Bible-... It appears to be a computer-generated frequency analysis of the words in the King James Version.

This source says the word "amen" occurs 179 times.

But where, you ask, did that intrepid History Channel researcher get the number 773,692?

I can't say for sure but I have a high degree of confidence in two things, 1) that drugs and/or alcohol was involved and 2) if, using information found at the above link, you take the number of words in the King James Bible, 788,258, and subtract the number of unique words, 14,565, you get a result of 773,693.

And since there must be at least one word that is NOT “amen,” we subtract that and, voila, we get 773,692... or so I suspect.

This factoid is notable only as the worst case I have seen. Time after time they publish similar garbage. The next time they present some interesting ‘fact’ or flash a bunch of numbers across the screen showing their version of a ‘math’ calculation, check them out and you'll see what I mean. A three-order-of-magnitude error is small change for these yahoos.

The History Channel was once my favorite television source but, in recent years, it has become a laughingstock. If you’re learning about the Bible under the tutelage of these people, you’re better off as a pagan.

It's probably between Amen and God.

Since most prayers end with Amen right? Also, a lot of prayers contain God.

Jesus was probably used a lot by his disciples but not really in many prayers or said by many.

This is not the answer but maybe you'll find it interesting ,the word god is just a titlle, the word jesus is not the saviors name, it did'nt appear untill after 1611.

GOD is more often mentioned than Jesus.

Jusy listing the word GOD and doing a search provides more verses with the word GOD in it then Jesus.
