thinking of nursing and want to volunteer?

I am thinking of going to nursing school and would really like to log some volunteer hours to 1-make sure I actually would like the field and 2-get some hours to add to my application. All of the hospitals I have applied to are full until the fall and I am trying to think of other places to spend some time which would look impressive on an application. I was thinking of retirement homes...can anyone think of anywhere else that I am overlooking?

Volunteers are needed all over, I can not believe that a hospital is FULL of volunteers.

OK, Places to volunteer (for nursing/medical)

    RED CROSS

    HABITAT FOR HUMANITY

ANY SENIOR CITIZEN CENTER / NURSING HOME

    AMBULANCE SQUADS / FIRE DEPTS

I am sure that there are at least 10 organizations within 20 miles of you that are hurting for volunteers.

YES, being a volunteer looks good an a resume, (just not too many hours)

Take a EMT course or a first aid course at the local community college.
