1. SEAL is under the command of Naval Special Warfare Command (NSW), which is under U.S. Special Operation Command.
2. EOD was under the command of NSW, but it was assigned to Naval Expeditionary Combat Command (NECC) this past January.
3. ND (Navy Diver) is also under the command of NECC.
There are some ND personnel that get attached to EOD units. And there are EOD personnel that get attached to SEAL and/or Army SF & Marines Recon units. But since you are a female, you will not be able to be attached to those units under the law.
At the moment, I believe there is a $40,000 for EOD & $35,000 for ND signing bonus. Being an EOD technician is not an easy job, but for me, it's the best job. Remember, the attrition rate for both ND & EOD is quite high. But if you are motivated and mentally & physically tough enough, then go earn the "crab" or the "helmet". And feel free to e-mail me if you have any more questions regarding Navy EOD.
And for those that do not know, not all SEALs are HALO qualified, and HALO is also offered to EOD personnel. HALO school is one of the hardest, if not the hardest, in the entire U.S. military to get in to. There are only limited spots open up each class. Many have to wait many years before they even get in; it's been 7 long years for me.

No. SEALs conduct direct action missions, counter terrorism operations, snatch and grabs, rescue operations, special recon missions, etc. They do just about everything no one else wants to or can. Navy SEALs are sort of like the Army's Special Forces.
Divers might have a range of duties from salvage ops. to assisting local p.d.s search for bodies. After Hurricane Katrina, Navy divers were needed in New Orleans to conduct search missions. Explosive Ordnance Disposal units do just that. Once explosives are located, EOD is called in to render them harmless.
They're all very brave but SEALs are the ones who get the hot missions.

Diving or EOD is nothing like the SEALs. The SEALs are a different breed they are trained in special operations tactics like HALO, forgien weapons training, intelligence gathering, small squads, and prisoner snatches. Diving and EOD are some of the things SEALs do to get the job done.

International Relations Coordinator Robyn Broughton says His Holiness really wanted to interact with staff and students. As the capacity of St David is limited to 500 people, it was decided to run a competition to choose which staff and students can attend – asking what question they would ask the Dalai Lama. The competition closes on Friday 19 April, but Mrs Broughton says there has been a fantastic response already from staff across the campus. “We have had entries from across the board,” she says. “Right from PhD students to senior management.” And the questions cover a spectrum of topics too. “There are quite a few around how to achieve balance in a busy life, quite a few around His Holiness’s thoughts around the role of tertiary education for young people, some around how to stay positive, someone has asked ‘If you could be an animal, what would you be?’, another has asked ‘What is your favourite childhood memory?’.” The final questions to be put to His Holiness will be selected by the national organiser of the Dalai Lama Trust, but Mrs Broughton believes there will be mix of serious and more light-hearted questions. Professor Mark Henaghan of Law will facilitate the session and put the questions to him.

EOD is extremely high speed. it's definitely worth it. women eod's cannot be attached to SEAL tems, or other "forward deployed" forces, but still have an important role in the community. GO FOR IT!! it is WELL worth the effort. it is easier said than done though, to earn your "crab"...

No.
SEALs are a tactical (combat) unit.
EOD and most Diving Ops commands are not combat units. (EOD and SEALs are a part of Diving Ops)
