    OK. God does not exist. Does that make you happy? Oops. Sorry, I goofed. One more try. god doesn't exist. There, was that better? Explain it? Two gum balls, one quarter? First I would have to ask you what in the dickens one has to do with the other. If you still insist on there being a connection, then I will tell you that the machine was probably set up for two for a quarter and maybe mislabeled, but you would probably just say, "See! I TOLD you God exists! I was MEANT to get two!" Know what amazes me about so many Christians? They have absolutely no idea when, where or how such concepts as original sin or the Rapture entered into Christianity, yet you repeat them as though they were universal truths. If you tell me the religion of Urantia is false, can you show me exactly how? I can. I have a copy of The Book of Urantia in my personal library. I have read it, all two thousand pages plus, and have

    annotated nearly every page. I know I am about to blow ten points if I haven't long before now, but what if the Jesus you worship is more myth than reality and your beliefs an agglomeration of truths, half truths and superstition? Are you then really a Christian?

    Well, my friend, I have long said and firmly believe that come judgment day (something else Christians do not really understand) there will be a lot of Christians surprised when they get a frown and a thumbs down from God. But I think there will probably be even more atheists surprised. I think a lot of them will, to their surprise, get a thumbs up, so there will be two surprises. God does exist after all, and He really is kind, loving and merciful. I have a very great faith in God, but if you were to give me a choice between a house surrounded by neighbors that are a bunch of hypocritical, holier than thou Christians or a bunch of rational, moral atheists, I will take the atheists every time. I think there are a lot of atheists who are more Christian that a lot of Christians.

    Now that I have defended atheists, I am going to dump on them. But don't get too excited. I am going to dump on you whether you are a Bapticostal or an atheist. Not everyone fits this, but if the shoe fits, wear it. You claiming you have the only truth, the only REAL scripture and are the only true followers of God is as false, narrow minded and indefensible as the atheist mantra there is no God and there is no proof. Many Christians are spiritual knee-jerks. Many atheists are intellectual knee-jerks. They both have minds like steel traps. They snap shut and they will be piles of rust before you can get them open again. I not long ago read an answer given by an atheist to a resolved question. He seemed like someone with an open mind, so I emailed him asking him to consider one of my answers and about three or four web sites. I can do over six thousand words a minute if pushed. It would have taken me over ten minutes to read just the web sites, and my answer was seven lengthy paragraphs. In less than five minutes I got his reply calling me a mindless sheep and worthless Christian. I am a Baha'i, Calling me a Christian is like seeing the four legs of a mouse and screaming there is a pink elephant. Within the last week I had an unsolicited message saying my answer was pure redundancy and suggesting I do a blog. Rather than respond to the tone of the message, I took a deep breath and wrote back thanking him for his suggestion and asking exactly how he thought my answer could have been improved. I think I caught him off guard. He thanked me for taking it the way I did, and then admitted he had not even read the first word, passing over it because of the length. I have a perfect example of a biased, narrow minded and ignorant atheist. This is from a currently open question.

    Religion really is the art of making people believe in something without offering any tangible evidence. The differences between each religion are really just different methods of avoiding the fact that there is no evidence and each religion either tries to make people convert to it or tries to make people think that it is the truth. So, what I’m saying is that there is strong motivation for the people of each religion to be less than completely honest with the presentation of their beliefs and because of this, it seems logical that the best people to ask about religions are unbiased, outside observers, ie, atheists.

    Someone gave this response:

    Atheism is a religious belief. Just one that has a cynical attitude and a rejection of any evidence for the existence of God. Any answer they give will be as tainted by their belief as that of any other religion. They only see the things they want to see when it comes to religion and God, and reject or twist anything that goes against their beliefs. So any answer they give is as bias as that given by any one else.

    And this was her response:

    You prove my point beautifully; there is no evidence of your god! None at all! You believe in a shadow!...an illusion!

    What God? Why is she claiming what she does? In my view, the only thing that keeps everything she said from being pure B.S. is the fact the person who wrote that probably believes it, but I am sure she is simply a sheep who is mimicking another sheep. (If you say something you believe to be true, even if it is not true, you did not lie.) I think she just proved HIS point beautifully. I am going to include just one quote out of hundreds if not thousands I could use, but just one will, I think, prove the falsity of her claim. From Baha'i scripture:

    ===========================================

    God has given man the eye of investigation by which he may see and recognize truth. He has endowed man with ears that he may hear the message of reality and conferred upon him the gift of reason by which he may discover things for himself. This is his endowment and equipment for the investigation of reality. Man is not intended to see through the eyes of another, hear through another's ears nor comprehend with another's brain. Each human creature has individual endowment, power and responsibility in the creative plan of God. Therefore depend upon your own reason and judgment and adhere to the outcome of your own investigation; otherwise you will be utterly submerged in the sea of ignorance and deprived of all the bounties of God. We must not be content with simply following a certain course because we find our fathers pursued that course. It is the duty of everyone to investigate reality, and investigation of reality by another will not do for us.

    Addendum

    I started off saying God does not exist. I will now say He does, but I will tell you this, if you are as wishy-washy and easily convinced as you portray yourself, I am not sure God will readily accept what is called blind faith. I have a great deal of faith, but it is anything but blind. If on the other hand you are simply trying to get people to think and question, I applaud you, but I give you this caution: Do not yourself quit thinking and questioning or you will quickly fall into the same trap you are trying to get others to avoid.

The two below that you may find useful, though I find some minor flaws and shortcomings in them. The last one is a pretty good free Bible study aid on its own, and has perhaps fifty different versions of the Bible and scripture. I recommend that one as well. http://www.bahai-education.org/ocean/ http://en.allexperts.com/q/Bah-2728/Bahai-principl... http://www.beliefnet.com/story/76/story_7665_1.htm... http://www.e-sword.net/

    You reaped the rewards of someone else's misfortune. Just the other day my son put 50 cents into a machine to get a sticker and it didn't give him one. By the time he came to tell me about it another child had already gotten his sticker plus the one he had paid for.

  • You got me. But aren't those machine gumballs the ones that go flavorless in 20 seconds?

    It proves that God does indeed exist.

    It disproves the Trinity, otherwise you would have received three gum balls for the price of one.
