I'm being currently in Thailand, a Thai and had been a student of politics and economics. I don't see China affects Thailand current politics and economics more than China affects the world in general. Sorry.

Politically today, China has a friendly attitude towards most South East Asian nations and exerts very little influence. China today, is more interested in getting access to the countries raw materials. That means free trade & market to buy lumber, tin, natural oil etc.
The only exception to this is Myanmar where China is probably the only major power supporting the junta government running the country to ruins. The biggest fear China has there is that if and when Aung San Suu Kyi is free, democracy will prevail in Myanmar & Myanmar will be very pro USA.
Also currently there is a long dispute between China & Myanmar (near the border of Yunnan). Nothing severe but China believes it can negotiate better with the current junta.
In terms of historical immigration, there is a huge amount of immigration form China to S.E Asia. Princess Hang LiPo was married to a Sultan of Malacca (Malaysia) in the 15th century. Recent immigration for labor by the British and Dutch (Colonial powers) to Malaysia & Indonesia & economic reasons to Thailand, Vietnam.
Integration of the people to Thailand have been seemless, most Chinese Thais consider themselves Thais. Of course modern day migration is control by government regulations (at the very least).

Are you doing your research papers? You continue to ask these type of questions.
Thailand is in SE Asia. India and China have influenced/shaped Thai cultures for centuries.
China and Thailand have been traded since Sukothai Dynasty. The Chineses people taught Thais to make dishes and cups. The two groups get along very well and have been trading/exchanging some goods since. After the communist China is in power, many poor Chinese moved to Thailand. The Chineses are hard working so they do very well in school and business. Many chineses have established small business in Thailand. Now, 2-3 generation chineses are wealthy, educated, and influential compare to Thais. 15% of Thais are Chinese decents who are proud to be Thais.
Source(s): I am a Thai who is Chinese decents. My grand parents came from China :). - Anonymous1 decade ago
A lot! The Chinese people have a large part in shaping today's Thailand and Thai people and are Thailand's largest ethnic minority. Large percentage of Thais can trace Chinese ancestry.

expenditures for nutrition and lodging might want to flow up without immigrant exertions because those industries are very depending on immigrant exertions. There might want to be somewhat fewer scholars in public education without immigrants. Welfare costs does no longer be affected because Clinton gutted help to households with depending little ones interior the Eighteen Nineties, and extremely few are on welfare, opposite to many of the racist comments that i'm particular will be printed the following. I strongly propose that this no longer be your basically source of analyze. examine the census bureau, and information superhighway information superhighway sites of both professional, and anti immigrant businesses like the Minutemen, MALDF, and AFSC (The Quakers) also come across a tremendous variety of anti-immigrant innovations on the information superhighway information superhighway sites of a number of white supremist businesses like the KKK, and the Arian countries. i hit upon it aggravating that the Minutemen information superhighway web site resembles those in tone, inspite of their protestations that they don't look to be racist.
