    Clothes line.

seriously, i think gas would be cheaper. but i still would rig up at least one line to dry the clothes outside if you can. zero cost and smells great.

Source(s): having to cut costs around all corners.

It depends on what type of energy you are hooked up to. If you use an electric cooperative then electric may very well be cheaper as they typically utilize wind and or water energy which keeps costs down. If you are using energy from a coal/gas/nuclear plant it will be cheaper to use the gas dryer. All in all, if you want to save money, build a clothesline. I have been saving between $60-$100 per month since I put mine up. Can't beat that with a stick.

Gas that you put in your car is different from the natural gas that runs the dryer. So it depends on the price of the natural gas vs. the electricity--which may be produced by many means--from oil or coal to nuclear to wind. Most likely, the electricity is produced by oil or coal plants, so the price is rising, too, put you have to check the relative rates wherever you are. There is no way for us to answer this question without knowing your rates.

Use a clothes line or a rack. Honestly it saves me a fortune

the only time I use my electric dryer is in the dead of winter and it really eats up the electricity. My electrical bill goes down by about 40. 00 a month in the summer by not using it.
