Does It Seem Barack Obama Is Afraid To Debate McCain and Why?
McCain From Day One Challenged Obama To As Many Town Hall Debates As Possible. To Quote McCain: "at least ten..."
Obama would only agree to one, on the 4th of July when he knew all Americans would be too busy lighting fireworks and eating hotdogs to watch such a debate. When McCain said this was not acceptable Obama is quoted as saying "take it or leave it." (this is undeniable, quotable fact so don't say otherwise)
Now Barack Obama has suddenly participated in his first town hall meeting since the general election campaign has commenced. This town hall meeting was not a debate with McCain, as asked, yet a staged event to adress his shift toward centerist policies and his own Leftist supporters' disdain for this obvious shift.
Who smells Cowardice?
I've taken time to lay down facts, not only opinion. I would appreciate anyone willing to adress facts, with facts. No hollow rhetoric. We've all listened to enough of that.
He Callenged McCain to ONE Lincoln/Douglas style debate. McCain requested TEN town hall debates.
What does elitist mean?
Yeah let's talk about hand picking the crowd. I live in the state where Obama kicked two females out of his seated audience for wearing Muslin headwear. They said so on the local news here in Detroit.
i.e. muslim

Of course he is afraid... he does not know how to talk without a scripted speech and a teleprompter. McCain may not be as fast or have the flash.. but he does know what he is talking about.. Obama is just a lot of empty rhetoric and empty promises. If McCain should ask him just how he hopes to pull off some of these pie in the sky ideas.. Obama will have nothing to say.
He will never debate McCain unless he can put restrictions on it.. and never in a town hall setting.. God forbid someone ask him a question that his staff has not had time to research. He is an empty suit.. just as they all say.

Obama Carries Uneven Record as Debater to First Contest With McCain A Scrappy Fighter, McCain Honed His Debating Style in and Out of Politic As far as expectations go, that seems to be pretty good for Obama -- people get that McCain has a stronger track-record as a debater. The only problem will be is if Obama fulfills those expectations.Obama tends to go on and on calling McCain names and a liar if this happens people will be turned off by him. He needs to state the facts and go on but Obama is very analytical which is where he loses track it takes him a ten page narration to complete a yes or no question and this is where he will lose his audience the man loves to listen to himself speak. Obama is to scared to debate John McCain... It was stupid of him challenge John McCain to a debate on the 4th of July everyone knew from the news that Cindy McCain was saying the family would be spending time in Arizona for a whiffle ball tournament because they couldn't light fireworks.
Obama knew John McCain wouldn't want to debate him on the 4th, he should have known John McCain was going to be spending time with his familly.
Barry just needs to man up and start debating John McCain, so we can see them get down to the issues. I'm tired of just watching Obama say this and that, and read his speeches... to attack McCain from afar.
Mr. Obama just needs to do some town halls or some debates like his campaign and the media was saying he would do.

I believe Obama realizes that he doesn't do well in debates or formats where he doesn't control the questions. In the primary debates, he mumbled a lot, didn't give coherent answers to difficult questions and often times sounded like a petulant child. I would imagine there will be debates closer to November but Obama is spending this time finessing his debating skills because he realizes that he looks bad in those situations. Will it help? I don't know, the guy appears to be a fairly competent charlatan so it just might work for him.

Obama on many levels is dead against dealing with McCain
one on one. He knows John is not straight party oriented.
He knows he will come at him with situations barack is
married to because of party. He knows John knows where
his money is coming from. And he can't let these cats out
of the bag. He knows that if he fires off and insults McCain,
He will be defending things he can not have disclosed.
McCain will take him into areas where he is vulnerable
and he will walk away looking really bad.
Then we have baracks inability to speak freely impromptu.
He can't do it. IMO barack suffered from stuttering and
stammering as a child. he has worked hard to over come
it. Thats why in a scripted setting, reading from a teleprompter he does well. His timing is not thrown off.
So he is smooth and flowing. In a one on one he drools
and stammers all over himself. poor child.

Obama is absolutely inept when it comes to discussing the issues. He cannot handle it without a teleprompter. When he would debate hillary, she was always asked the question first-then he would copy what she said. If she expounded on an issue, he would request to respond and again repeat what she just said. By the time nov. comes, obama will adopt all of McCains responses and make them his own. Obama is a fake and a fraud. He is not fit to run for president, much less be president.

Because Obama has nothing to offer but the Utopian promises of socialism that can be found in any political philosophy book. However, when forced to defend how those policies will be sustained and paid for, he stammers and mumbles like an informed idiot.
Proof? That last debate with Hillary. I don't like Hillary, but in an unrehearsed debate, she would have smoked him like a cheap cigar. John McCain would do the same thing.

Yes. Obama does not want to debate John McCain in a Town Hall format because he would not be able to fill the room with his cheerleaders to distract people from seeing Obama for what he really is.

I am not an Obama fan but it woudl be stupid to debate McCain at this time.
Obama is on top right now. He would have nothing to gain and alot to lose by debating McCain
McCain would have nothing lose and alot to gain.
Common sense if you look at it objectively. Obama would be completely retarded to debate McCain.

The reason Obama was hesitant what revealed after the first "town hall" meeting. McCain promised a totally unbiased crowd, but in fact only let people who where supportive of his campaign in. Look up any news source other than Fox, who televised it and thus have it in there interests to withhold this fact, and you'll find out that there are two sides to this story. You've only been drinking one party's kool-aid.
edit: In regards to the question writer's edit I think is to answer me, the reason those two women where kicked out was because racists in the republican party would have made a big fuss over it. It's pathetic that political mud slinging has physically stopped two women from participating. It goes both ways, but I think stuff like Fox News makes it ten times worse, and that has a decidedly conservative slant.
