So, answer me this. If God, Jesus, and the holy spirit are the same...?

why did Jesus say "...whoever speaks a word against the Son of man, it will be forgiven him; but whoever speaks against the holy spirit, it will not be forgiven him...."

If they are the same, why is there such a difference?

Update:

Sorry, that's Matthew 12:32.

Update 2:

trinity=false

Update 3:

Triad? Triads come from the false practices of ancient Babylon! True Christians do not believe in the trinity. :)

First, to clarify, it is the Father, Jesus (the Son), and the Holy Spirit that are all one - not the same - but one. One what? One God. The Father is God. Jesus is God. The Holy Spirit is God. They are one God - not three. Yet, Jesus is not the Holy Spirit. Thinking of man as a triune being might help in understanding this. Let's say that man's name is John. John is one man but he has a soul, a body, and a spirit. John's soul is John but so is his body and so is his spirit. But his body is not the same as his soul. Now, let's say that John is in a wheel chair. His body is handicapped but that doesn't mean that his spirit or soul are. There is a similar distinction between the Father, Son, & Holy Spirt. As to why one can be forgiven for speaking against the Son and not the Spirt, there isn't enough room here to get too detailed, but it is the Holy Spirit that draws one to God. We come to God through the Son (because of what He did on the cross) but if we "speak" against Him we can be forgiven if we repent and turn to God for that forgiveness. If we "speak" against the Holy Spirit how can He draw us to God to receive forgiveness? Hope this helps.

Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are three but because they all come from the same source, they are as one, like water from the ocean is still ocean even when it is separated out.

The Holy Spirit is a Representative of God and The Son of God in Spirit. He is an Overseer and Guide for those who except him. The Bible also says that God is Spirit. We each are spirit and of the same source as God because our Spirit is from God. So if you deny the spirit, you deny yourself and as you continue to deny and talk against the spirit, you slip further and further away from a relationship with God and you will not be able to forgive yourself on a spirit level for doing so. You eventually become lost in a place disconnected from God by your own choices. Jesus said, he would send a comforter until he returned again. This is the Holy Spirit. What Jesus was meaning I believe, is that you can say bad things about a man of earth and you can be forgiven but if you say things about God's spirit, you will be held accountable on a spirit level because of your denial and blasphemy. This you will be faced with and will not be able to forgive it when you judge yourself.

When you say evil against the son your forgiven because you do not know what you do.

When you harden your heart against the conviction of the Holy Spirit and that blasphemes the Holy Ghost, that blasphemes the Christian doctrine, and maliciously opposes it causes one not to repent. Without repemtence there is no salvation.

These verses describes what it is

    Rom 1:28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;

Rom 1:29 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,

Rom 1:30 Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,

Rom 1:31 Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:

Rom 1:32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

God came to earth in the human form and we know Him as Jesus... the Son of God and Son of Man.

When one understands why Jesus came, they will understand why the Comforter (Holy Spirit) came after.

In the beginning all three were present. God the Creator, God the Son (who is the LIGHT) and God the Holy Spirit (who hovered over the waters.

When man decided to turn their backs on God the Creator... God sent His Son (second leg of the Trinity) to show the people God is still with them. For them to come back to God. However, they didn't come back. Instead, they killed Jesus on the cross. But, Jesus said He would send another the Holy Spirit to guide us.

When you know you are about to do something wrong, you have a tugging going on inside. That is the Holy Spirit warning you and if you ignore the Spirit... you are blasphemy God. That is the unforgivable sin... all other sins are forgivable.

God created man in THEIR image.

Water as we know it comes in three forms: liquid, gas, solid remove one form we have NO water.

Fire has three sides: oxygen, heat, fuel remove one side you have NO fire.

Why is it so hard to understand God is in three forms as well: Father, Son, Spirit remove one and you have NO God.

Sorry true Christians do believe in the Trinity.

Source(s): John 1:1 "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." Jesus is the Word... so In the beginning was Jesus, and Jesus was with God, and Jesus was God. John 10:30 "I and the Father are one" I is Jesus and the Father are one So yes the TRINITY is TRUE

Because it is the holy spirit, who, in our time is the one who does the forgiving of sins.

Jesus is talking to all generations in the gospel.

We do not have Jesus directly to ask for forgiveness, as they did during the time that Jesus said this.

So if you speak against the holy spirit, the one who wants to forgive your sins, then you've got no one else to turn to, and you go unforgiven.

We say that God is one being. But from our point of view, our interface with him, takes on three distinct persons.

trinity = false, yes, absolutely false.

He is talking about people who recieve the spirit and then reject it and the truth.

    It is further explained here:

Hebrews 6:4 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost,

5 And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come,

6 If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.

not that i'm saying you should look at the trinity this way...

but i have found a way that helps me understand the trinity better...

i think of god, jesus, and the holy spirit as more of a triad...

three different entities that have their own duties to perform in order to achieve a common goal...

to put is simply and mathematically, 1+1+1= 3

    i hope that helps you....

Because the Son became a man, and God the Father permitted temporary blasphemy against Him. The only eternally fatal sin is blasphemy against the Spirit, because it is the Spirit that convicts each person of sin, righteousness and judgment. Blasphemy is rejecting the Holy Spirit's conviction in an ultimate and final way, which includes rejecting the Son and the Father. They are all one essence, but they are three in person. If you just get rid of the bible thing, you'd understand a ton more. It's just a holy book, hon, one of thousands written thru the ages, and one no different than any other... everyone who ever believed in a holy book believed that theirs was the only one, that theirs held the only truths, yaydaydyadyayda. Thor isn't any different than Odin than Zeus. Jesus was just another holy man, and that book is 2000 years old, nothing written about him until way after he was 30 years dead. If you lived in Japan in the 1500's you'd be believing something different... same dog, different collar.

The notion of the trinity was the cause of great controversy and no little violence in the early Christian era. The matter was settled under the pressure of Roman imperial authority at the Council of Nicaea in the 5th century. People who wouldn't go along with the official doctrine were ... well, it wasn't a good idea if you wanted to preserve your health.
