Anything "free and clear of perfumes or dyes"
Tide free and clear
Purex free and clear
Era free and clear
All free and clear
almost every brand has it now.
I find it's even better than Dreft... b/c dreft still has perfumes in it... smells good, but you know.
This won't hurt the fabric and it will be easy on your baby if he/she comes into contact w/ it.
Be sure to use gentle cycle and cool or warm water... especially if it's the first time you've washed it to see how it will do.

You can use Dreft but it's pricey. I used All free and have had friends that used Tide free - basically use anything that is free of perfumes, etc and you should be fine.

we used the same detergent with all of our saughters clothes and bedding since she was first born and she didn't have any problems with it. most likely unless you or the father has an allergy to the detergent you use the baby shouldnt either. if the baby was to have any issues it would be more than likely the scent of the detergentt that was bothering them, so just dont use anything with a very strong scent to it.

I have heard the shampoo is considered a mild soap. Dove is mild, and dish degerent is mild. Most liquid laundry soaps, aren't really all that mild.
