The CYA was first bestowed in 1956, so we'll skip the many obvious candidates who played and retired before then.
I'll throw out a few names, some still active.
Starters: Roy Oswalt, Curt Schilling, Nolan Ryan, Bert Blyleven, Mike Mussina.
Relievers: Dan Quisenberry, Mariano Rivera, Trevor Hoffman.
I'd probably go with Blyleven, but any name here is a good candidate. More than one have finished as high as second in the CYA voting at least once.
