Reason for leaving?

When I worked as a receptionist for almost a year, I was trained to back-up nearly every other position (cashier, supervisor, closing front-end supervisor, administrative assistant, safe manager, and receiving clerk.) I never received a raise, much less a "Thank-you." I put in lots of overtime, worked many 12 hour days, and designed ads, flyers, and displays. I left because I felt like I was being used and didn't get the respect I felt I earned.

When filling out an application, how do I put this into an answer for "Reason for leaving?" without sounding like someone who simply didn't want to do work?

It's a little tricky - I sense that you left w/o having another job lined up...if I'm right then you will get questionsable looks from potential employers.

It'll be best to say personal reasons for this can be interpretted as needing to care for a family member for all they know. Make certain your resume is reflecting ALL the tasks you were great at so others will see your value and you won't get shorted again.

A very acceptable reason to leave work is not getting paid enough assuming you asked for a raise and didn't just expect one.

Your best bet would be to word it that you didn't feel challenged enough and wanted to do more but you were being held back.

just say you are resigned to seek a better opportunity.

I hope you did not quit until you had a better job.

    good luck
