Okay, this is just my personal opinion. Please don't take offense...

    1. Adrian - I haven't seen it spelled this way before, normally I've seen it as Adrianne. It's an okay name.

    2. Maeve - I really don't know how to say it.

    3. Sapphire - When I was around 13 I wanted to name my future child this, but my taste has changed as I have gotten older.

    4. Aiden - I think this is a cute little boy's name.

    5. Lina - I like this as well.

    Hope that helps. :)

  • 1. Adrian -- I really like this one, especially on a boy, but I can see its appeal on a girl as well. On a boy, it seems both strong and sensitive. (I think this is because it has the common male -an ending, but it is three syllables long, which "softens" the name up a bit.) For a female character, I would picture a smart woman who is a bit of a tomboy. I think she has light brown hair and maybe glasses; she's pretty in an everyday sort of way.

    2. Maeve -- Excellent name! It's alluring and sophisticated, a bit mysterious, and it packs a lot of attitude. (The name means "intoxicating.")

    3. Sapphire -- I'm not so fond of this one. Spices and gemstones often have the potential to come off as "stripper" names. In a work of fiction, I'm afraid it would sound rather phony. I find the similar Sapphira to be more acceptable -- it's exotic and alluring.

    4. Aiden -- I loved this name before it became so popular. When I hear it now, all I can picture is Carrie's boyfriend from Sex and the City. If you are a writer, I would advise against you using this one, since it has become so well known in another work of (T.V.) fiction.

    5. Lina -- This one is sweet. It either makes me picture someone of Middle Eastern descent (as the name Lina can come from either Arabic or Sanskrit) or someone very feminine, sweet, and somewhat insubstantial (as -lina is a common feminine suffix in European names). Perhaps both. It lacks the exotic feel of Maeve or Sapphira -- it's much more simple and down-homey.

I'm going to rate them according to my preference...

    1. Lina

    2. Adrian

    3. Maeve

    4. Sapphire

    5. Aiden (I think if you spelled this Aidyn it would look a little more feminine and less like it should be a boys name).
