Work from home jobs that aren't scams?

I have spent alot of time searching for a job I can do from home that doesn't require a "start up fee" or any selling. I have yet to find anything that I don't feel is a scam! If anyone out there has any ideas I would greatly appreciate your input!! Thanks :)

"If a company requires initial payment from you in order to work for them, they are not legitimate."

There are a few legitimate data entry companies but are not hiring and have large waiting lists (1-2yrs). The majority of data entry jobs you seen online are scams. A real company will want you to have skills inc fast typing, may want you to know MS Excel, and will usually ask that you have high speed internet. Once in a long while you may found one online on a job website but thats rare.

If you do an advanced search on yahoo, you will find previous answers, sometimes the info on these is good as the info they gave is likely to have been verified if the answer was voted as 'Best'.

Just a couple of answers (won't get you rich tho). One is to use any spare room in your home as storage for businesses (recrods). Storage is expensive. Second is pet care. Start off small looking after cats say. Good money and you can build up as the business grows. Very easy business to run and real easy money. Third idea is the standard selling online. Buy from Asia via the internet, and resell via say ebay or whatever. Sorry nothing more interesting. But at least these are not scams like most tend to be. Good luck.

You should have a read of the articles on this website, it will help you with the searching and also how to avoid scams but you're unlikely to get the names of any genuine companies in the replies here as there is no shortage of people looking to do work at home and data entry jobs.

You're right to be cautious. Most "work at home" schemes are scams. Sadly, that includes most survey services. They depend on you buying items from their advertisers.

If you have marketable skills like translation, writing, accounting, web design, secretarial, administration or IT, you can get freelance work. You work from home on your own schedule and do as much or as little work for clients as you like.

To get started: Register on sites like guru.com or elance.com. Some are free, some will charge you a small fee (less than $20 per month) to get started. You can bid on projects that you are qualified for and interested in. Manjy people do this full-time and make more than $60,000 per year.

I started my own full-time freelance career this way.

Eventually you will develop a network of clients and won't need to bid on projects any more. Just remember that this is a business, and you need to run it in a professional way.

Most home businesses require some type of startup capital.

I've heard of people finding a niche on ebay and making good money transferring things from local garage sales, and thrift stores via ebay.

the surveys and such as pointless and valueless. if you have goods or services you can provide such as medical records billing, or web development, you might do well.

There is a lot of competition for work from home jobs. I got started using

online freelance sites, and ultimately built a business with clients that I

    found through them.

http://www.scriptlance.com/ (Free - Best in my opinion)

    http://www.gofreelance.com/ (free - good site)

    http://online-jobs-success.blogspot.com/

    http://genuinedataentry.blogspot.com/

http://www.elance.com/ (Biggest, but kind of expensive)

The first link is mainly programming, but there are other jobs there as well.

You may have more luck with the second.

they are all scams - I have looked into them -

you can work from home by telecommuting from your internet doing clerical work and sending it in or data enty if you are a good keyboarder - there are others but the ones that advertise the big money deals are all scams
