Who is Tamino?

http://tamino.wordpress.com/

Clearly he is intelligent and has quite a bit of experience with data analysis. He even lets on that he has several papers in peer reviewed journals, but who is he?

Update:

"He keeps his identify anonymous for some unknown reason (there can be a variety of reasons to separate one's professional life from their Internet hobby)."

I knew that. It just seems odd--we have the people at realclimate, Tim Lambert, Josh Halpern (aka Eli Rabbett), Steve McIntyre, Anthony Watts, David Stockwell, etc, etc, etc.

Then there is Tamino.

Update 2:

"Who is Randall?'

Who cares who Randall is?

Update 3:

"Tamino remaining anonymous is no stranger than "Michael Asher" at Daily Tech. He is just as anonymous as Tamino since it's a relatively common name and there is no biography for him online."

1) It is his real name, though (at least I think).

2) Michael Asher doesn't claim to be a scientist, doesn't claim to have any peer reviewed papers, and his articles are only really cited by people who aren't particularly well read on the subject of climate change. Tamino, on the other hand, is cited as a response to peer reviewed papers, blogs by known scientists, etc...

Update 4:

"And of course, the other main difference is Tamino is demonstrably correct, "

On one particular post, or always? If it is always, thats good to know.

"whereas Asher is at best disingenuous when he isn't flat out lying."

I can agree with this.

"So I can see why Tamino bugs you."

He doesn't bug me, i just want to know who he is.

Update 5:

"He probably remains anonymous so that people will consider his arguments rather than engaging in ad hominem attacks (i.e. with James Hansen)."

i.e. any skeptical scientist.

All he lets on is that he's a mathematician.

He probably remains anonymous so that people will consider his arguments rather than engaging in ad hominem attacks (i.e. with James Hansen).

edit: And of course, the other main difference is Tamino is demonstrably correct, whereas Asher is at best disingenuous when he isn't flat out lying. So I can see why Tamino bugs you.
