Would his tartan clash with my ideal wedding colors?

My FH is Scottish, and is going to be wearing a kilt with his clan's tartan. As a member of the Irvine clan, his tartan is green and blue with stripes of yellow. I have always wanted a red and silver wedding, and he's convinced that his kilt with clash with the rest of the colors. What do you think?

Rock on with the kilt!!!! Oh yeah. My boyfriend and I are in almost the same discussion (same colors on both sides) with his family colors and what I would like. Trust me the colors will not clash. If you were to add silver and red accents to his attire, you would be able to bring everything around full circle. A red buttonire (sp?) and a silver kilt pin? Depending on his sporan, see if you can find one with white fur?The road could also go both ways with you adding small elements of his clan colors into the wedding. Yellow or gold ribbon againstsilver draping in the ceremony or reception?

I was having a similar thought. My man would be in stewart tartan (red with yellow and blue) and in my opinion matching anything to that is pretty hard (I was wanting a sea green/blue coloured dress). However, I think as kilts are a national dress, I don't think you can really worry about matching to it. If you try and match to it, it would possibly look too much. Besides, if there are going to be more people in kilts in the wedding party, they wont all be in the same tartan anyway so there's no way you can try matching!

    Good luck and congrats!

Get some of the clan tartan material and your wedding colours and put them together. It sounds OK to me, but you should be the final judge.

i don't think that he should be worrying about his kilt matching anything. a kilt is a representation of his family...not a piece of drapery that you pick out for special occasions to match the linens.

you have the wedding with the colors that you want. reassure him that no one will be whispering if his kilt doesn't match! i think it's a great tradition and he should be proud!

It'll stand out, that's for sure...red and silver sounds rather elegant...green/blue/yellow won't match but guys in kilts look so kewl.

    Congrats on your upcoming nuptials.☺♥☻
