Is it really my fault that I broke the piston on the work bike?
How was I to know to check the oil everyday? Who checks the oil everyday? My own bike only needs the oil filling hardly ever. Just cos i ride it for four hours or so a day (the workbike) are they really right in blaming me for that piston breaking? I checked the oil once a week. I put oil in it that morning.
I don't really care that much cos i hated that bike. But still. Nice to know how much I am to blame.
Anyways I have a nice new work bike now. I think its better than the old one.
no i won't. i have had loads of sugar and you can't make me

1 Probably not.
2 You should have, because that bike was a piece of crap.
3 I don't, unless I'm riding a leaker or a smoker (or both).
Nice to hear you got a good ride now. Watch out for those jumping trees.

enable me describe what i think of you're finding at, the piston crown has thousands of tiny holes everywhere from a pin length upwards in length, something of the crown seems good with out any of the crown punched upwards. The piston skirt is unbroken however the hoop area could have scuffs and scoring to per probability a million/2 way down the piston, greater so on the exhaust port facet. Now in case you spot it as I do then examine on, if i'm incorrect then examine the subsequent answer. You did no longer say in case you checked the coolant point before or after the 'fail' and additionally you probably did no longer say if it exchange into gurgling (boiling). What you experienced exchange right into a great engine overheating. The piston crown began to soften it is the clarification in the back of the holes. The crown did no longer look like some metallic have been given into the combustion chamber and in basic terms punched up the piston, it appeared greater uniform than that with out sharp edges to the holes. The cylinder distorted as a results of severe warmth and so the hoop broke, i'm questioning the perfect ring. Have the cylinder measured for out of around or barrel positioned on. no count if it quite is positive then you definately are fortunate to flee with a clean piston and gaskets. The reason, properly before everything Jon is faulty approximately reed valves being the achieveable reason, in the event that they have been broken you may go through a great loss of potential and blow back into the carby, that does no longer make it run warm. working too long on finished throttle and finished revs. Sustained driving like which will reason an engine to recover from heated and advance the prospect of a failure. Coolant loss. An obtrusive reason for an engine overheating. additionally examine for grass, airborne dirt and mud or airborne dirt and mud blocking off the cooling middle of the radiator. some the place back in time somebody outfitted a smaller considerable jet to attempt to get greater potential, then finally atmospheric situations, (temperature, Barometric rigidity and a low humidity) mixed to make the engine fail. examine the main jet quantity and no count if that is not any longer universal then in positive condition a universal jet then retune the main jet if want be, yet no longer back to the contemporary jet length. incorrect ignition timing will overheat a motor. Or the gasoline/oil combination ratio exchange into incorrect and not sufficient oil which made the motor run warm. wish that help with the subject....

The best defense is a good offense.
Did you get hurt when the piston broke? Sounds like you did check the oil on THAT day. Seems like you could have a case against the manufacturer or the owner if it's not you and they're just trying to shovel the blame away from themselves--you could have been totaled.
No I don't check my oil every day.

All bike manuals mention that you should check your oil levels daily but I really doubt if many people actually get around to doing that.
In a normally maintained bike, the colour of oil changes as it gets older. The level really has no business to decrease unless there is a leak somewhere.
If your earlier bike was loosing oil, it is the job of the maintenance guys and not yours. So ... I guess its not your fault after all !
