Jews: do you prefer evangelical christians or atheists?

atheists, by far.

it's not a Q of preference, I can't tolerate the rampant ignorance, use of manipulation and half-truths, and hatred of knowledge in the evangelical movement, nor their need to control politics and insert their own beliefs into secular culture, education and law.

I also don't have to protect my children from atheists trying to terrorize them out of their spiritual and religious inheritance with threats of hell.

Keep in mind that most xians aren't evangelicals. Most of them are respectful, decent people who don't need to impose their own ideology on the rest of humanity.. As with any religion (including Judaism, but I do think we have a better handle on it in most of the world), the militant fundamentalist whack-jobs are always the loudest.

I have problems with people who insist I am wrong, blighted, bound for hell or deluded. Such lack of respect for my beliefs and views is unpleasant. I haven't ever met an atheist who's been like that to me, although I do know that a very few can be. Most Christians are completely fine, good people, but there are rather too many who unfortunately do talk/write in derogatory terms about me and other Jews, insisting that we must convert to Christianity in order to be 'saved' and are otherwise deluded and bound for the place they call hell. That IS obnoxious. But it is only a small portion of Christians - just a lot of actual people, as there are so many Christians!

I know for certain that my friend (who is Jewish) prefers atheists. They are never trying to push anything on him and have NEVER told him he is going to hell. Both Jews and atheists believe that when you die you simply die. That helps cut down on the afterlife focus/dialogue that I find most evangelical Christians feel compelled to blab on and on about.

Evangelicals are without a doubt some of the most obnoxious people out there, always getting into everyone's business and judging people without walking a mile in anyone's shoes. (think terry schaivo).

What is the most obnoxious thing that atheists do on an "organized atheist level? We dress up like pirates and carry a big ole fsm around. lol! There are worse things to be doing....

I can't answer it generally. Some atheists are militant and tell me I am an an idiot for believing in G-d. Some are great. Some Christians tell me I am going to hell for not believing in Jesus as the Messiah. Some are great.

I prefer a respectful person, no matter what their religion (or lack thereof)

I, as a Jew, have no problem with atheists. Everyone is free to believe or not believe as far as I'm concerned. No atheist has ever insulted me or told me I was blind or told me I was hard-headed or told me I was "incomplete" or told me that, yes, too bad, but you're going to hell; or told me that all the Jews who died in the Holocaust are in hell now. I have heard all that from evangelicals....so the answer is easy for me.

i am an atheist: i don't like evangelicals -they dish out very lame arguments.. they are most obnoxious to the human mind.

I'm an atheist and I like Jews better. At least they have a reason to be a little snotty...they survived a genocide. But most aren't. That's what I like 'bout 'em.

Generally speaking, evangelicals. As an observant Jew, I would rather work for an evangelical before an atheist....and an atheist before a non-observant Jew. Politically, I find myself in more agreement with evangelicals. On the topic of discussing religion, there's not much difference.

I'm thinking most would be like Abby's Grandpa, at least atheist don't go around perverting Judaism

I asked my step-grandpa that a long time ago (he's Jewish) and he said he prefers atheists because they don't go around telling people that they'll go to hell for not believing in Jesus.
