My cat has been acting strangely since I've been pregnant.?
Before she wouldn't let you touch her, she hid all the time and came out when no one was around. SO we named her crazy. Since I've been pregnant, she's always on my lap, walks by my side, and if someone gets too close to me she attacks them! When I bathe she freaks out meowing (shes not a verbal cat) and she freaks out when I leave her in a room without me. What gives? She's suddenly so sociable and protective! I'm 29 weeks, which is how long this cat has been acting so strange.

Congratulations! This article that I've posted a link to is one of the better articles that I have read pertaining to women and "pets" in general during pregnancy.
http://www.pregnancy-info.net/pets_pregnancy.html
It has long been suspected that cats (and dogs) can smell the chemical chnges that take place in your body when you become pregnant. I've had female friends that have gotten extremely annoyed at their pets during their pregnancy because their cats, mainly, have exhibited unwanted behavior to the point of urinating outside the litter pan, and aggression that this link mentions.
I so hope that you love your pet enough to be prepared for the worst, and will work with your cat if things do get a little rough.
They are very sensitive creatures, and while I completely understand how frustrating it can be when your pet becomes hard to handle during this special time in your life; with paitence and a few special tips your pet can be as happy to have the new addition as you are.
God Bless and Good Luck.

It sounds like she's trying to protect you and the baby. To her taking a bath/shower probably seems like torture so she's upset for what you're going through.
My girl cat strongly prefers my boyfriend, except when I'm on my period, then she prefers me. It seems a bit strange sometimes but they seem to understand a lot of things. I'm sure she loved you the whole time but thought you were ok without help from her, now she's sensed that there's a difference and thinks she should step in and help. Her help may not exactly be helpful, but I'm sure she means well and wants to give back some of the help you've given to her.

You're lucky. Some cats would start behaving extremely badly. For instance, some kitties urinate and poop outside the litter box. They act apprehensive and don't want to even look at you. I guess your kitty senses/smells hormonal changes in you and that triggers a change in attitude. She may or may not know you're pregnant, that's still being discussed among experts. The change in her attitude is just because she can smell and feel changes in your body. Some cats behave good and some behave bad depending on how their brains react to the changes.
Remember our pets know when we are angry, upset, sad and happy just because of hormonal and attitude changes in us. They react accordingly.

the cat feels like she wants to be a part of the process of having a baby. She feels that she is being left out and she is showing you that she loves you and doesnt want you to get hurt and she is trying to be a partner beside you that your not alone and that she is there for you and that she is showing her love to you as you gave her when she came into your life and now she feels that she wants to return the love to you. it may seem strange but that is sometimes how cats show they are feeling left out and that now when the little one is coming she wants to protect you and the baby as her own. good luck
