What is an olive classed as? Vegetable? Fruit? Herb?

Hi all, this has had me curious for a long time, does anybody know the answer?

    hello,olives are most certainly a fruit.they grow on small trees throughout the mediteranian and have been cultivated for thousands of years.

    interestingly enough according to a new survey,next to tomatoes they are the most popular fruit we put on pizzas..

    good bit of trivia for the water cooler tomorrow..
